Background / History

Gong Tian rose to prominence in the Outer City as a young Body Tempering martial artist. Elder Song recalls that he once fought through the experts of the Seven Gangs and Four Sects without missing a single opponent, becoming known as a Devil King. In his earlier years as East Street's leader, he also sought to protect the common people, though prolonged exposure to officialdom changed his outlook and made him more detached. 28 53

By the time Yang Ning entered the East Street Martial Arena, Gong Tian was its owner and a prominent Outer City expert. He recognized the potential in Yang Ning's Tiger Soul Fist and chose to give him support, while making clear that Yang Ning's future would depend on his own ability. 16

Gong Tian later revealed that Yang Ning's Tiger Soul Fist and the Jingan Bureau lineage's core methods both originated from the ancient Five Animals Technique. Alongside Elder Song, he tested Yang Ning and brought him before their master, Sun Nian, leading to Yang Ning's admission into the lineage. 27 28

Around Yang Ning, however, he is markedly more relaxed. He frequently adopts a lazy posture, jokes with his junior brother, and offers practical advice on cultivation, official power, and surviving in Kuishan County's competing networks. 30 36 55

He values ability, preparation, and the strategic use of institutions over reckless individual strength.
