Just then, the office door was yanked open. A blond woman dressed in eco-friendly clothes rushed out, visibly agitated, and left the clinic without looking back.
A moment later, Dr. Loren emerged from his office, his face still bearing a trace of weariness and helplessness.
When he saw Irene holding Lucky, he quickly adjusted his expression, doing his best to return to his usual professional, gentle demeanor.
"Miss Irene, sorry for the wait." He came over, his gaze landing on Lucky's newly groomed coat. He paused in surprise, then smiled sincerely. "It looks like Lucky's been well cared for at home. He's much prettier than when he came in last time. His coat and markings are quite distinctive."
Irene smiled without mentioning what she had just heard and simply went along with him. "Yes, I only just noticed, too. My mom took him to get groomed, and he came back looking like a completely different dog."
"Haha, your mother must be a very particular lady. Let's get little Lucky vaccinated first." Dr. Loren took Irene to pay, then led her toward the vaccination area.
Animal cries sounded from all around them. Lucky was still a little timid, his tail tucked as he pressed himself close to Irene's chest.
Irene could only keep stroking his back to comfort him.
