Chapter 21

In a grove within the Peach Grove, Glasses finally found Dong Xiaoye behind a tree.

"What are you, a burden, following me for?" Dong Xiaoye looked at Glasses with dissatisfaction.

"I scattered quite a few glasses in the woods. They should be able to help you out later," Glasses said.

"Who needs help from a burden like you?" Dong Xiaoye showed no gratitude for his goodwill. "I was planning to deal with that person from Evolution Company, but it looks like we've caught the attention of someone more troublesome. Xue'er and the others will have to handle things on their own."

With that, Dong Xiaoye leaped in one direction. Two beams of light grazed past her, and crucially, both came from different directions.

"Two people attacking?" Glasses said in surprise.

"There's only one enemy. Watch out!!" Dong Xiaoye shouted at him.

Hearing the word 'watch out,' Glasses reacted quickly. He vanished from his spot instantly. The next moment, he appeared on a peach tree, and then he saw dozens of light beams rising from different directions in the grove, curving midair and converging on one spot—the very place where he and Dong Xiaoye had just been standing.

A thick ice pillar rose from that same spot. Though it looked sturdy, it crumbled under the onslaught from all sides in an instant.

"What do we do? Dong Xiaoye can't hold out much longer," Glasses said anxiously, staring in that direction.

When you teleport, your clothes come with you. Why not try bringing someone else along?

A voice suddenly echoed in Glasses' mind.

"That's right!" Glasses said, not even stopping to think about whose voice it was. He rushed toward Dong Xiaoye as fast as he could. The glasses he had used earlier for swapping positions had already been destroyed in the light-speed attacks.

Beams of light from all directions kept converging on the same spot.

By the time Glasses returned to Dong Xiaoye's location, she was already in a sorry state. She held a shield made of ice in her hand, constantly moving, blocking attacks she couldn't dodge with it.

But she was nearing her limit. Glasses clearly saw hundreds of light beams rising, nearly lighting up the entire sky over the Peach Grove.

Just then, Dong Xiaoye noticed Glasses running toward her. "Why are you back?! Hey! What are you doing?!"

Under Dong Xiaoye's stunned gaze, Glasses grabbed her and the two vanished from the spot. The next moment, countless beams converged on where they had just stood.

They teleported to the base of a tree, landing in the same position as when they first met—him on top of her.

"Get off me right now!" Dong Xiaoye kicked Glasses in the stomach, sending him flipping over.

"Is this how you thank your savior?" Glasses said.

"I didn't ask you to save me," Dong Xiaoye replied. "We need to find that Hunter's real body quickly."

"Huh? Weren't there ambushes from all sides?" Glasses asked.

"Tch, and you're from H City?" Dong Xiaoye looked at him like he was an idiot. "That attack style is definitely your H City's A-Class Hero, Hunter. No doubt about it."

"What? You're saying Hunter has been attacking us?" Glasses asked.

"Exactly." Dong Xiaoye nodded. "If it were a head-on fight, I wouldn't be afraid of him at all. But in a place like this Peach Grove, perfect for hiding, we're in a really bad spot."

"Then how does his attack work?" Glasses asked.

"Hunter's ability is called 'Hunter.' It's a rare composite ability." Dong Xiaoye said. "What we know so far is that he has an omniscient view here and can change the trajectory of the bullets from his guns."

"So he just hides somewhere and fires wildly in all directions?" Glasses asked in surprise.

Dong Xiaoye nodded.

Just then, Glasses grabbed Dong Xiaoye again, and they vanished once more. Dozens of light beams rained down on where they had been.

"This omniscient view is way too broken! He found us again in no time." Glasses cursed, only to get kicked in the stomach again.

"Are you doing this on purpose? Every time we teleport, it's in this position. Or do you just like it?" Dong Xiaoye kicked him off and cursed.

"You think I enjoy getting kicked by you every time we teleport?!" Glasses said. "Anyway, we can't keep this up!!"

"I know, but we don't have any reconnaissance abilities. We'll just have to stall for time. Hope Xue'er can handle the enemy over there. If she fails, we retreat immediately," Dong Xiaoye said.

"How can we do that?! Lin Jie and Xiao Zhan are still here! We can't just abandon our teammates and run!!" Glasses said indignantly.

"Do you have another plan?" Dong Xiaoye asked.

"No! But I'm not leaving either," Glasses said.

Buddy, use my power!

The voice appeared in Glasses' mind again.

"Who are you?" Glasses finally thought to ask about the sudden voice.

"What are you talking about?" Dong Xiaoye looked at him curiously.

"You can't hear it? That strange voice?" Glasses asked her.

"Have you lost your mind? It's just the two of us here," Dong Xiaoye replied.

Buddy, don't be surprised. Only you can hear my voice. The voice in Glasses' mind spoke again.

"Who are you, really?" Glasses asked in shock.

I am your eyes! The glasses on your nose! The voice said.

"What? You're my glasses?" Glasses said in astonishment. "Impossible, my glasses don't have such bizarre functions!"

'Brother, aren't you curious? Why can your displacement ability only swap positions with your glasses?' that voice said.

"Who knows."

'Because your true power isn't spatial movement at all.' The voice spoke words that left Glasses stunned.

"You're saying my ability isn't spatial movement? Then what is it?" Glasses asked, shocked.

'You're actually a man who possesses the Glasses Soul!'

"What the hell is a Glasses Soul? Something weird just popped out, didn't it?"

'That's why others remember your glasses but not your face—because you're the only man in this world with the Glasses Soul. One day, you'll rise to become the Glasses King, standing at the apex of all glasses.' The voice declared firmly to Glasses.

"That sounds grand and all, but why do I feel so lame?"

'Let me finish. Your true power is to communicate with glasses and unlock their latent potential.'

"Unlock the latent potential of glasses!" Glasses was stunned.

'Yes, and now is the perfect time to use my power. My ability can definitely help you deal with the person in front of you.'

"What should I do?" Glasses asked.

'I'll guide you! I am the Glasses Sage, created to guide the future Glasses King.' the voice said.

A moment passed, and Glasses slowly opened his eyes. The glasses he wore had undergone a noticeable change.

"So that's it. Amazing, Glasses Sage!" Glasses exclaimed in delight. The glasses on his face had clearly transformed. Rows of data streamed past his vision.

"Attack incoming in three seconds..." Glasses turned his head to look at Dong Xiaoye.

"What are you doing?" Dong Xiaoye asked, watching him. This guy had been muttering to himself for a while, and now he suddenly stared at her—what was that about?

But before Dong Xiaoye could react, Glasses rushed over and grabbed her in a tight embrace.

The two of them vanished from their spot once again.

The third time Dong Xiaoye tried to kick him, Glasses climbed off her on his own. He made a shushing gesture at her as she got up, then pointed in a direction and mimed an attack.

Dong Xiaoye, though annoyed by his sudden shift in behavior, summoned an ice spear and hurled it toward where he pointed.

The ice spear pierced through several peach trees before exploding midair as if hitting a powerful barrier.

Immediately after, a human-shaped ice sculpture appeared out of nowhere in that clearing, with dozens of laser sniper rifles materializing around it.

"Hit it!" Dong Xiaoye exclaimed in surprise, running over to the ice sculpture. "How did you know where he was?"

"It wasn't me. It was the power of these Sage Glasses." Glasses said proudly, pointing to the frames on his nose. "The Sage Glasses have immense computational ability. They successfully calculated this Hunter's firing trajectory habits and deduced his position."

Only then did Dong Xiaoye notice the change in the glasses on his face.

"If you had something this convenient, why didn't you use it sooner!" Dong Xiaoye fumed. "Did you want to see me struggle first, then show off your superiority? You pervert with four eyes!"

"No, I only just found out I had this ability—when I was talking to myself earlier," Glasses said.

"Your ability evolved?" Dong Xiaoye calmed down.

"Pretty much. Thanks to this, I managed to calculate that guy's position," Glasses said smugly.

"Then did you calculate this?" A figure appeared out of nowhere beside Glasses and slammed a fist into his face, sending him flying.

"It's the Hunter!" Dong Xiaoye exclaimed in shock.

"Did you think I wouldn't guard against attacks on my real body?" the Hunter said to Dong Xiaoye. "That ice you froze was just bait from my bait ability."

"Is that so?" Dong Xiaoye said. "But you dared to show yourself in person. Looks like you're pretty confident in your abilities."

As she spoke, a surge of cold air erupted around her.

"The prey's already in the trap—what do I have to fear!" the Hunter said.

No sooner had he spoken than a strange device appeared at the spot where Dong Xiaoye stood.

"X Field!" Dong Xiaoye said in surprise.
