Background / History
Lin Jie began fighting real monsters while still in middle school, initially driven by a chuunibyou desire to become a hero. He kept becoming stronger through constant combat, facing monsters, armed enemies, aliens, and other threats throughout his school years. His heroic career left him isolated from classmates and ruined his studies; after graduating high school, he gave up hero work and became a shut-in for five years. 19
During his former career, Lin Jie operated as the cloaked hero Zero. Zero became a symbol of hope during the global emergence of monsters and superpowered criminals, inspiring many later heroes, including God Hand. Lin Jie considers much of Zero’s public legend—and its film adaptations—embarrassing or inaccurate, particularly the dramatic statements he made merely to look cool. 19 20 36
Lin Jie returns to hero activity after intervening during a Ten Gods Clan concert disrupted by the Black Hand. He restrains the criminal leader with old hero-era handcuffs, then defeats the transformed Black Hand Boss in one blow with a Wolf Fang Club. 20 21
Although reluctant to work as a hero again, he is pressured by his younger sister Lin Wan into accepting Xiao Zhan’s invitation. He registers with the Hero Association, accidentally receives the alias “Random Warrior,” and begins operating with Xiao Zhan, Thirteen, and Glasses. 22 24 25 26
Lin Jie later helps protect Lin Mumu, a little girl rescued from a human-experimentation organization. This leads him into conflict with Ouyang Rui, the corrupt H City Hero Association president, and the Evolution Company. During the Peach Garden operation, Lin Jie decisively defeats both Ouyang Rui and Evolution Company representative Kaito, exposing the disparity between his official rank and actual strength. 29 34 41 42
After his teammates undergo special training, Lin Jie continues the Decontamination Squad’s work alone. His rapid, wordless suppression of H City crime reduces the crime rate by eighty percent and earns him the nickname “Silent Club.” 48
Appearance
Lin Jie generally presents himself as an ordinary, unremarkable young man, allowing others to underestimate him. His concealed identity as Zero is associated with a black cloak, black fog obscuring his face, red eyes, and the Judgment Sword. 20 23 34
- Possesses notably dense, highly trained musculature despite his ordinary appearance. 38
- Usually carries or produces a heavy Wolf Fang Club, which becomes his public identifying weapon. 23 44
- As Zero, wore a black cloak; the costume is displayed in the World United Supreme Museum. 36
- His eyes can emit a red light when he directs killing intent at an opponent. 34 45
Personality
Lin Jie is apathetic about employment, rank, fame, and conventional superhero image-making. He prefers anime, games, and staying home, and often treats hero work as an interruption to his hobbies. Despite this, he repeatedly acts when civilians, friends, or Lin Mumu are threatened. 20 32 48
His fighting philosophy is brutally direct: identify evil and eliminate it as quickly as possible. He distrusts heroic institutions that prioritize publicity, profit, or rank over protecting people, and openly questions whether his own actions can truly be called justice. 24 25 49
Lin Jie is sarcastic, easily distracted by appearances and romance, and fond of making absurd stories or inappropriate jokes. He is nevertheless loyal to the few people he accepts as friends, refusing to abandon Thirteen despite the danger of Thirteen’s bad-luck ability and joining Dong Xue’er’s operation to protect Lin Mumu. 25 26 29
Abilities & Skills
Superhuman Physical Ability
Lin Jie possesses overwhelming strength, speed, reflexes, and combat awareness. His physical power is sufficient to defeat opponents officially evaluated from B-Class through A-Class, including enemies enhanced by Evolution Fluid. 24 31 33 41
- Defeated B-Class War Tank Yatan with a single club strike. 24
- One-shotted the B-Class-level Black Hand Boss and multiple body-enhancement superhumans. 21 33
- Kept pace with the Golden Triangle Boss’s tenfold speed enhancement and intercepted him despite his Ink Shadow Mode. 31
- Surpassed Ouyang Rui’s tenth-level Ancient Martial Steps, leaving afterimages even Ouyang Rui could not follow. 41
- Defeated the A-rank dangerous creature Shadow Demon/Black Demon while protecting a civilian. 49
Weapon Mastery
Lin Jie can effectively use nearly any object as a weapon, though he most often fights with his Wolf Fang Club. He describes his ability type simply as picking something up, swinging it hard, and “chopping people.” 24
- Uses the Wolf Fang Club for high-speed, high-force strikes capable of breaking hardened defenses. 24 41
- Restrained the Black Hand leader using old handcuffs from his former hero days. 20
- Demonstrates precise enough control to defeat fast opponents with minimal movements. 31
Judgment Sword
Lin Jie can materialize the pitch-black Judgment Sword, a blade marked by an eerie red glow. The sword and Lin Jie’s red eyes are recognized as a nightmare to sinners and identify him as the vanished Zero. 34
- Revealed against an Evolution Company-enhanced giant threatening Lin Wan and Lin Mumu. 34
- Its appearance alone causes the opponent to recognize Zero and panic. 34
Killing Intent
Lin Jie can project an overwhelming killing intent that affects weaker-willed opponents psychologically. 29 45
- His aura nearly incapacitates Dong Xue’er when he agrees to oppose Ouyang Rui. 29
- A brief glare causes Ouyang Rui to experience countless visions of his own death and leaves him mentally broken. 45
