"Elder Skull, now that I have slain Demon King Guangguai, can my innocence be proven?"
Liu Wenjian looked toward Skull, who was squeezed into the middle of a group of princes and elders, and spoke calmly.
Without waiting for Skull to respond, he continued on his own:
"Perhaps it still isn't enough to prove it, but at the very least, it should establish that Demon King Guangguai and I were not in league, correct?"
Only after saying that did Liu Wenjian pause, leaving Skull time to answer.
Perhaps his mind had not yet caught up, but Skull looked hesitant and failed to react immediately.
Fury Shield, standing nearby, gave him a shove first and urged him aloud:
"Are you deaf? Demon King Liu Wenjian asked you a question!"
"I-I suppose..." Skull replied weakly. Then, remembering to leave himself a way out, he hurriedly added:
"Perhaps it really was Demon King Qin... ah, no, perhaps Qin made a mistake..."
"How could a devout follower of God's Chosen like you, the Child of Prophecy, possibly be a spy from the outside world who infiltrated the Holy Domain..."
"Oh-ho, so you've stopped biting and started sweet-talking now?" Fury Shield said in a mocking tone. "If you were still insisting on doubting Demon King Liu Wenjian, I might actually believe you—and respect you as a real man."
"But with you acting like this now, this is all I have to say about you."
As he spoke, Fury Shield held his thumb upside down and pointed it toward the ground.
The other demons shared much the same attitude.
Whether in their eyes or on their faces, there was more or less a trace of contempt.
Skull looked embarrassed, not knowing how to respond.
Liu Wenjian made no comment on this. He merely shifted his gaze
