"Supervisor Chaos was right."
Before Qiongqi and Taotie could recover from their shock, they heard Taowu voice his agreement:
"If it truly comes to that, then to preserve Star-Picking Tower, we can capture the sun and use it as a power source."
"Don't forget—the rule this world has followed since the Great Revival is survival of the fittest!"
"If we can't survive, then there's no need to worry about whether anyone else lives or dies!"
Ordinarily, Qiongqi was the one who played peacemaker, smoothing over the conflicts between Taotie and Taowu.
But this time, he voiced his clear opposition to Taowu.
"This plan is too radical. You're gambling!" Qiongqi shook his head, his gaze sharp. "If we fail, we'll be doomed beyond redemption. There will be no second chance!"
"I won't fail!!" Taowu suddenly roared, smashing the table beside him with one slap. "An opportunity like this has finally appeared. I have to seize it!"
"I can't wait any longer!"
The sudden fury made black flames surge across his body, turning him into something like a humanoid furnace.
Qiongqi said nothing more, merely looking at this ally he had worked alongside for years with a complicated expression.
Taotie, usually the hot-tempered one, had calmed down instead.
Like Qiongqi usually did, he wanted to act as the mediator, say a few words, and ease the tension.
But his usual habit of speaking as though everything were loaded with gunpowder worked against him.
The moment he opened his mouth, not only did he fail to help, he made the already tense situation even worse:
"Hasn't Taowu always been like this? He acts on instinct."
"If this time counts as gambling, then all his past decisions were gambles too."
"He's gambled so many times already..."
"I'm confident!!" Taowu turned toward Taotie and roared.
