However, before Haike had taken more than two steps, a sound from the corner ahead suddenly caught his attention.
It was a bout of heavy breathing mixed with muffled groans of pain.
It drew closer from afar, gradually approaching his direction.
Haike immediately held his breath and focused. After scanning his surroundings, he slipped behind the final corner.
He crouched down and pressed himself tightly against the base of the wall, keeping his body as far out of sight as possible.
After what had happened earlier, he already knew that he was not the only "escapee" in this strange maze.
If he wanted to escape the maze by leaving marks, then without any tools, he could only rely on blood.
Making himself bleed was absolutely out of the question.
That left him with only one option—
Kill the other "escapees" trapped in the maze and use their blood as markers!
Talk about perfect timing.
He had just been worrying about how to find those escapees, and now, one had come right to his door!

It ended without warning. The air became so quiet that it was as though the gasping, groaning target had never existed.
