Evelina landed hard on her butt, her mind completely blank from head to toe.
It took her quite a while to recover. Then she finally came to her senses and shouted toward the spot above where Lu Li had vanished:
"You bastard, what the hell are you trying to do?!"
However, the young man had long since disappeared into the gray haze, and no reply came back.
Evelina rubbed her sore butt indignantly as she kept looking around.
"You dog of a man, if you didn't want to take me with you, you could've just said so. Why mess with me?"
"Making me jump, then pulling your foot away just when I was about to grab it—that's way too cruel!"
"Come to think of it, he isn't planning to leave me here to die, is he..."
The anger in her heart quietly faded, replaced by worry.
Evelina began to panic a little.
As she looked into the gray haze around her, countless terrifying visions seemed to appear for no reason.
Unidentifiable sounds came one after another, like a mischievous hand relentlessly plucking at the thread of her already-fraying sanity.
Evelina wanted to call out.
She wanted to make sure whether her cheap master was still somewhere within the gray haze, beyond the limits of her sight.
But when she tried, she discovered in horror that she could not make a sound at all!
That damned Lu Li had actually used the Servant Contract to temporarily strip her of her ability to speak!
Did that bastard really intend to leave her here to die?!
Her heartbeat grew faster and faster, yet it seemed to drag the flow of time into slow motion.
Other than the small patch of fleshy ground beneath her butt, Evelina felt as though the gray haze
