A Perfect NBA Debut

"Su, great shot!"

As soon as the timeout was called, Damon Jones rushed over and hugged Su Yi.

Su Yi was practically an assist machine at point guard.

This was awesome. He'd been on the court for less than two minutes and already had three assists.

"Rookie? That's a damn sniper! He's so accurate!"

"Su, keep this up and I guarantee your sneaker deal will be bigger than mine."

"Rookie, are you sure you didn't set the 2K difficulty to Rookie?"

"Hey, Su, give me a heads-up next time. I haven't even warmed the bench yet!"

The moment Su Yi returned to the bench, his teammates showered him with praise and playful jabs.

Especially when LeBron James said, "I guarantee your sneaker deal will be bigger than mine."

Su Yi merely shook his head on the outside, but inside, he was nodding like crazy.

His sneaker deal was definitely going to be bigger than LeBron James's.

Back in his previous life, during the local looting spree, everything had been cleared out—except LeBron James jerseys and sneakers, which nobody wanted.

His hands were practically on fire tonight. Whenever he got an open look, he seemed to knock it down.

With Su Yi leading the way, the Cleveland Cavaliers' offense flowed beautifully in the second quarter.

Seeing this, Coach Mike Brown had no plans to bring the starters back in. The bench was playing too well.

But one player on the court was getting impatient—LeBron James!

At that moment, LeBron James watched Damon Jones's assist total climb higher and higher.

In the 2004–05 season, he averaged 7.2 assists and 3.3 turnovers per game, for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1 to 2.18!

In the 2005–06 season, he averaged 6.6 assists and 3.3 turnovers per game, for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1 to 2!

That meant LeBron James turned the ball over once for every two assists he averaged.

Compare that to the league's top active point guards. Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns had averaged 10.5 assists and 3.5 turnovers per game last season, for a ratio of 1 to 3!

Jason Kidd, who had led his team to the playoffs twice, had averaged 8.4 assists and 2.4 turnovers per game last season, for a ratio of 1 to 3.5!

So LeBron James's passing really wasn't historic. He was merely above average.

His style of play required him to keep the ball in his hands. Otherwise, his stats wouldn't look as good.

He was just an All-Star whose stats looked exceptionally impressive.

The game continued, but once the Cleveland Cavaliers' starters returned, their smooth offensive rhythm ground to a halt.

Su Yi made cuts for two straight possessions, but the pass came either too early or too late.

So he stopped cutting and quietly settled into the corner, watching LeBron James put on a show.

With LeBron James leading the way, the Cleveland Cavaliers still held onto their lead.

After all, he loved playing with a lead.

The clock ticked down, and soon it was time for the Cleveland Cavaliers' final possession.

LeBron James held the ball at the top of the key. With five seconds left, Big Z hurried over to set a screen.

LeBron James used the screen and drove inside.

As he penetrated, he drew several Washington Wizards defenders toward him.

LeBron James leaped high and, in midair, tossed the ball toward Su Yi in the corner.

Su Yi was a little speechless. Damn, were you blind?

There's a defender right in front of me, and you're passing me the ball?

The system's voice rang out quietly.

After catching the ball, Su Yi didn't hesitate for a moment. He immediately rose up and shot over the defender.

The instant the ball left Su Yi's hands, the red light flashed. The first half was over.

After releasing the shot, Su Yi didn't even look to see if it went in. He headed straight for the tunnel. The last few minutes had been thoroughly unpleasant.

On offense, all he could do was sit in the corner. On defense, the other team kept targeting him.

The Cleveland Cavaliers headed into the second half with a 12-point lead.

The Cavaliers had exploded for 38 points in the quarter, outscoring their opponents by a full 15.

Su Yi had gone 8-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 from three, racking up 21 points.

A rookie, scoring 21 points in a single quarter!

The feat stunned the entire country.

"Twenty-one points in one quarter? The Cavaliers struck gold. He might be the most NBA-ready player in the 2006 draft class!"

"Cleveland's new hero! Su made the whole country remember his name in just one quarter!"

"Su? No, call him Su God!"

"Twenty-one points in one quarter? Even I can't score that efficiently in 2K!"

During halftime, reporters and fans went wild on social media!

Meanwhile, Su Yi's teammates celebrated his 21-point quarter in the Cleveland Cavaliers' locker room!

Big Z even teased him: "Rookie, anyone who scores 20-plus in a quarter has to buy the whole team dinner tonight!"

As soon as Big Z finished speaking, the others started chanting, "Dinner!" "Dinner!" "Dinner!"...

"No problem, dinner's on me!" Su Yi immediately thumped his chest and replied. He wasn't a cheapskate, after all.

Then Su Yi added, "But only if we win this game. If we lose, I won't be in the mood. I'll probably go home and cry in a corner."

His words made all his teammates burst out laughing.

They all promised they would win.

After a short halftime break, both teams returned to the court.

In the second half, the Cleveland Cavaliers played as one, and every player was on form. The lead widened little by little.

By the time Su Yi returned to the court, the Cavaliers were already up by 20.

Then they dealt a few more blows and pushed the lead past 30.

In the end, the Cleveland Cavaliers crushed the Washington Wizards 123–94 at home, winning by 29 points and claiming their first victory of the season.

Su Yi had also delivered a perfect NBA debut.

He finished with 30 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, shooting 12-for-18 from the field and 6-for-9 from three.
