Background / History

Mystic Sanctuary was originally known as Mystic Academy. It was founded to gather talented individuals from the Ten Thousand Realms, teach them according to their aptitudes, and cultivate future martial-arts powerhouses. As generations of exceptional graduates and transcendent figures emerged from it, its reputation outgrew that of an ordinary academy or sect; it became known as the Mystic Sanctuary, a holy land sought by countless prodigies 423.

The Sanctuary is regarded as one of the foremost powers in the Ten Thousand Realms, described as capable of ranking among the top five in strength, foundation, and influence. Its standing is supported by a Twelfth Grade Great Emperor, the Old Sanctuary Master, who is the only Great Emperor-level powerhouse in the Mystic Realm 423 710 791. The Old Sanctuary Master is Great Emperor Cangxuan, whose presence serves as the principal deterrent against Origin Hall’s ambitions in the Eastern Star Domain 972.

Mystic Envoys periodically travel through star regions, battlefields, and secret realms to identify extraordinary young talents. Those chosen receive Mystic Tokens and are brought to the Sanctuary for cultivation; ordinary “geniuses” generally do not meet its selection standard 423.

The Sanctuary’s influence also extends beyond its formal academies. During the Cangwu Small World campaign, its powerhouses absorbed local factions that submitted and eliminated those that resisted, later overseeing the expedition through remote observation methods 909 924.

The Sanctuary is described as having stood for tens of thousands of years, with its Great Emperor serving as the foundation of its enduring security and prestige 791. Despite its reputation throughout the Ten Thousand Realms, Origin Hall remains the strongest publicly recognized power within the Eastern Star Domain itself 972.

The covert rivalry with Origin Hall eventually develops into open warfare at Emperor Fall Valley. Origin Hall commits an expedition described as including five beings with Great Emperor-level combat power and two guardian divine beasts at the Half-Emperor Second Pass. The Temple of Light and Spatial Temple join its attack on the Sanctuary’s forces, while the Sky Chamber of Commerce and Darkness Temple intervene on the Sanctuary’s side 1149 1152 1153 1154. The fighting causes casualties among all sides, including the Sanctuary and its allies 1160.

Grounds and Facilities

Mystic Sanctuary is situated on Mystic Star amid cloud-wreathed mountains, ancient forests, streams, palaces, and pavilions. Its enormous Golden Gate is carved with profound runes and opens onto ordered layers of structures concealed within the mist 472.

Mystic Peak is concealed by extensive Array Patterns. A Holy Son Token can open an entrance through these formations, which reseal immediately after authorized entry 984. The peak also contains cultivation rooms, scripture repositories, spirit medicine halls, exchange centers, and Cave Dwellings reserved for its high-status residents 988.

The East Academy’s Inner Academy has seven prominent main peaks. Mystic Peak is slightly shorter than these peaks but possesses a presence no less imposing, with ancient Array Patterns enveloping its surface 983. Its worldly energy grows denser with altitude, and its medicinal fields occupy nodes of spiritual veins, supporting steady cultivation even without additional heavenly treasures 984.

The East Academy also possesses seven Dao Fields in the Temple of Time. These include True Emperor-established fields founded through mastery of the Time Law, as well as the especially prestigious Mystic Emperor Palace left by its Great Emperor. Myriad Laws Palace provides sixfold time flow in its Inner Zone, while Mystic Emperor Palace ranks among the Temple of Time’s foremost cultivation grounds 827.

The Sanctuary possesses the Golden-Eyed Heavenly Mirror, a divine artifact capable of transmitting real-time images across the barriers between worlds. Its elders use the mirror to observe multiple regions of the Cangwu Small World simultaneously, including the disciples’ battles and discoveries 924.

Recruitment and Identity Tokens

The Sanctuary holds recruitment every four years, drawing prodigies from many worlds and factions 808. Successful candidates are received through the Mystic Token system.

• Mystic Tokens are silver-white identity tokens marked with the ancient character for “Mystic” and intricate Array Patterns 422.
• Tokens are bound to their owners’ identities; killing a holder or stealing their Token does not grant recognition, and attempts to exploit the system can be fatal 471.
• A Token can open the Sanctuary’s defensive barrier for authorized entry 538.
• Tokens also record and manage a disciple’s Mystic Point balance, mission contributions, and privileges 477 620.
• Gu Hanxi personally issued Tokens to Qin Yan and Long Hao, instructing them to report to the Yellow Spring Star River on October 1 for Sanctuary reception 422.
• During Qin Yan’s intake, more than thirty thousand Fourth and Fifth Grade prodigies assembled at Mystic Star for disciple classification 472.
• Holy Sons and Holy Maidens possess purple identity tokens in addition to their corresponding robes; Qin Yan’s Holy Son Token grants him access to Mystic Peak 983 984.

Disciple System

Ranks and Recognition

Holy Sons and Holy Maidens may cultivate the Sanctuary’s foundational Mystic Scripture, a supreme cultivation art otherwise restricted even from Peak Masters. They are likewise eligible for the Three Origins Scripture, a core divine ability that can fuse three Supreme Grade intents 676 806.

Each academy has only one Holy Son and one Holy Maiden for a given generation. Selection ordinarily follows a four-year cycle, although special circumstances allow an early contest, as in Qin Yan’s case 656 973 988. Promotion does not eliminate competition with Holy Sons from previous generations, who may continue cultivating within the Sanctuary 657 988.

The Holy Son position carries substantive authority rather than merely ceremonial prestige. A Holy Son may execute a disciple who gravely disrespects or provokes him before reporting the matter afterward, although abuse of this authority can result in disciplinary action and revocation of the privilege 983.

Previous generations remain active in external affairs. Zhao Ming and Lin Qingyin, identified as the Sanctuary’s Holy Son and Holy Maiden from two generations earlier, intervene to defend Qin Yan against the Darkness Temple and its allies in Emperor Fall Land 1117.

Graduation and Residency

The Sanctuary does not indefinitely support underperforming disciples. Those who cannot pass the graduation assessment within ten years are expelled, while graduates gain widely respected status across the Ten Thousand Realms 656.

Core Disciples may apply to remain after graduation as Resident Disciples. They continue receiving Sanctuary resources and access to cultivation opportunities while serving the organization 656.

Resident Disciples receive less favorable treatment than active Core Disciples, but retain access to secret realms, spiritual-energy enhancements, and technique exchanges. Outer and Inner Academy disciples from previous intakes who have not graduated must complete missions to maintain their disciple benefits; failure can result in reduced or revoked support before the ten-year expulsion limit 656.

Graduates may also join the Mystic Guard directly without further examinations or selection, giving them an official Sanctuary identity and broad freedom of movement throughout the Mystic Realm 657.

Princess Anya is identified as an outstanding graduate of Mystic Sanctuary, illustrating the institution’s role in cultivating prominent figures from other races and worlds 423.

Resources and Mission System

Mystic Points are the Sanctuary’s principal internal reward currency.

• Mystic Points can be exchanged for cultivation resources and access to facilities such as Spirit Mountain and Spear Mountain 475 476 489.
• Mission difficulty is divided into one to five stars; higher-star missions offer far greater rewards but carry greater danger or difficulty 521.
• Sanctuary missions extend throughout the Mystic Realm, allowing disciples to earn points through combat, protection, investigations, and other assignments 589.
• Mission rewards are assessed by actual contribution rather than simple kill counts. The Sanctuary accounts for assistance, resource expenditure, teamwork, and contribution ratios before issuing rewards 620.
• Its rules were repeatedly refined to prevent powerful clans from using elders or outside assistance to falsely farm contributions for their descendants 620.
• Mission information can be relayed by cooperating local forces, allowing completed assignments to be rapidly verified and Mystic Points credited to a disciple’s Token 594.

Mission assignments range from low-risk duties, such as tending medicinal gardens or cleaning the Scripture Pavilion, to investigations of Demon Sect remnants and combat posts at the Heavenly Arena. The five-star Gold Defender mission offers five Mystic Points per day 521. During the Qingyun City Beast Tide, the Sanctuary funds rewards recorded through local Mission Tokens, while the city supplies mission verification; a reward of 3,000 Mystic Points is offered for each of the Four Great Fierce Beasts killed 594 601.

The Holy Son Robe weakens attacks below Peak-Stage Grandmaster level. Its Spirit Weapon Skill, Holy Light Benediction, produces a purple protective radiance capable of withstanding a full-force Peak-Stage Grandmaster attack. Qin Yan’s medicinal field contains three Eighth Grade spirit medicines and more than a hundred Seventh Grade medicines 988.

Leadership and Enforcement

Mystic Hall is attended by twenty of the Sanctuary’s strongest martial artists, including elders, Peak Masters, and academy officials. Gu Hanxi, Jian Wuhen, and Outer Academy Dean Yun Nichang are among its members 791.

• Great Emperor Cangxuan / Old Sanctuary Master — The Sanctuary’s sole Great Emperor-level powerhouse, master of Xuantian and Qin Yan, and the foundation of its status in the Mystic Realm 791 972.
• Xuantian — Current Holy Lord of Mystic Sanctuary and Qin Yan’s senior brother under Great Emperor Cangxuan. The Sanctuary can assign Mystic Guard personnel to protect exceptional disciples. Following Qin Yan’s achievements, its elders authorized a Mystic Guard Commander to guard him in secret and reserved him a Temple of Time cultivation slot after his Grandmaster breakthrough 792.

Protection is also treated as a responsibility toward Heavenly Stairway clearers. When Qin Yan clears the trial without the clan backing enjoyed by many of his peers, arrangements are made to protect him 506. Mystic Guard Commanders are described as Venerable-level powerhouses, making the later assignment of a commander a substantial increase in the protection allocated to him 792.

After Qin Yan refined the Cangwu Small World, Xuantian concealed his status as Great Emperor Cangxuan’s disciple. This measure was taken because Origin Hall’s hostility toward the Sanctuary made public knowledge of Cangxuan’s new disciple dangerous 972.

During the battle at Emperor Fall Valley, the Sanctuary’s elders maintain a coordinated defense despite being outnumbered by Origin Hall. Under Liu Changfeng’s direction, their complementary attacks and defensive cooperation initially prevent Origin Hall from breaking through 1152. The arrival of the Temple of Light and Spatial Temple forces them into a wider encirclement, prompting Liu Changfeng to summon Su Jiujiu and Ye Weiyang 1153 1154.

• Mystic City — An important affiliated city at the foot of the Sanctuary. Its City Lord’s Mansion is backed by the Sanctuary; the City Lord is appointed by and answers to it 522.
• Heavenly Arena — A major institution in Mystic City founded by a Sanctuary elder, giving it an official background and guarantees of order and security. Sanctuary disciples can accept missions to serve as its defenders 521 522 523.
• Temple of Time — The Sanctuary receives a limited number of cultivation slots in this premier time-based cultivation holy land. Such slots are normally reserved for True Disciples 792.
• Myriad Laws Palace — The Sanctuary maintains multiple palaces in the Temple of Time’s core zone. Sanctuary elders stationed there manage the Mystic Dao Domain and related affairs 839.
• Thick Earth Territory — Maintains friendly ties with Mystic Sanctuary, allowing Qin Yan favorable access as a Sanctuary disciple 804.
