Ker stared upward in horror.
That terrifying aura was growing stronger and stronger.
This was bad. If it continued spreading, he might get caught up in it too.
After all, water conducted electricity!
Though he was far enough away, if that current grew any stronger, he would not get off easily.
"Is this the inside of an Anomaly Artifact? What exactly is all this around me?"
"I have to find a way out of here."
Under the threat of death, Ker finally broke free from the shock and sorrow brought on by the surging memories around him.
He turned his attention to figuring out how to escape.
By chance, this also distracted him, preventing him from sinking deeper into those memories and becoming even more despairing.
The lightning remained blinding.
Amid the flashes of intense light, Ker seemed to glimpse a figure dart past within it.
"Did I see that wrong? There seemed to be someone inside that lightning?"
"How is that possible? I can feel its power even from this far away. If someone were really in there, they would have been reduced to ash long ago, wouldn't they?"
"Could it be a Contract Anomalist?"
"Even if it were a Contract Anomalist, lightning of that level should..." Ker trailed off as he suddenly considered the possibility that this lightning had been unleashed by a contracted Weird.
Then the Contract Anomalist who had made the contract would not be harmed.
Ker relaxed somewhat, though he did not fully let his guard down. That person was probably fine, but he might not be.
A contracted Weird would only refrain from harming its own contractor. There was no such rule for outsiders.
