Self-Destruct Mode Countdown: Taking Them Down with It
The executive walked to the control panel and pressed a button.
A lot of steam was ejected, and the container was opened.
When the container was opened, the tumor twitched, like a beating heart.
The One executive also witnessed this, his face showing shock. "It... it moved?"
He thought he had misread it.
Because ever since they obtained this "Divine Scion," for such a long time, it has been like an unmoving object, just quietly sitting there.
If it weren't for the blood still flowing in its veins, it would truly look like a lifeless object.
That's why they trust it so much.
But now it's moving?
There are surveillance cameras here, of course.
The surveillance camera moved and aimed at the container, accurately recording the moment when the hematoma inside trembled.
The executives were still wondering if they had misread it.
The city lord on the other side saw it clearly.
"That thing moved..."
"It really is alive."
Why did it move at this moment? Did it sense the arrival of its kind?
"I told you, this guy is definitely a monster, otherwise how do you explain that thing reacting to him?"
They no longer call that thing Divine Scion.
The city lord reviewed the surveillance footage and then began contacting other cities.
These cities were able to communicate with each other, and many contingency plans were left in place when they were established.
For example, these cities may appear to be independent, but in reality, they exchange goods and services with each other.
Although there's bound to be infighting, they can still join forces to fight off any enemies.
Especially since it concerns the very foundation upon which their city was built.
If something goes wrong with the "Divine Scion," then all the cities are affected.
Soon, the avatars of other city lords appeared on the screen. "Number 3, why are you suddenly making an emergency call?"
"If it's not something urgent, I'll definitely make you pay."
Some of the city lords looked like they had just been woken up and were still half asleep.
Some city lords had their clothes open, looking as if they had been interrupted in the middle of doing that thing, and their anger was very obvious.
City No. 3 Lord: "Gentlemen, this matter concerns the ' Divine Scion '."
"Divine Scion?"
What happened?
"We were wrong. The ' Divine Scion ' might really be ' Divine Scion,' possibly some kind of powerful alien race."
"Why do you say that, Number 3? What evidence do you have to prove it?"
"They are indeed invasive species, didn't we know that from the beginning?"
"No, what I mean is, they aren't the mindless, immobile things we imagine; they are real, flesh-and-blood beings. You'll see after watching this video."
City No. 3 Lord sent the videos of Skywing A massacring the armored security guards and approaching the "Divine Scion," and the Divine Scion reacting, to these city lords.
The city lords quickly finished watching the video.
They all reacted very strongly.
The person who was still sleepy suddenly woke up.
"Hiss, so we've been using this kind of monster all along?"
"Possessing intelligence, the ability to communicate, the capacity for disguise, and the power of unseen attacks..."
"It wouldn't be wrong to say they are Divine Scion."
"This is not a power that humans can achieve."
"Did it come to awaken its companions and rescue them?"
"What if they retaliate against those of us who took advantage of them?"
All the city lords began to panic.
They never imagined that what they initially thought was an endless source of energy was actually a ticking time bomb.
It could explode at any moment.
Number 3.
The second city lord was the first to calm down. "Since they've been locked up for so long without any movement, it means it won't be so easy for them to wake up."
"Perhaps it needs external force to awaken it; its companion is the key. What if we eliminate that companion before they are both awakened?"
"You're insane!" City Lord Number 4 shouted. "Everyone knows those things are simply impossible to harm."
City Lord No. 5: "No. 2 is right. Perhaps they cannot be harmed while they are still in their blood tumor form. In that form, their defense is invincible. But once they hatch, they will have weaknesses."
City No. 6: "But you're not sure either, are you?"
The City No. 3 Lord sneered, "You want me to be the scapegoat? To test whether those weapons can actually harm it?"
City Lord Number 2: "I'm doing this for your own good. You see, if that Divine Scion on your side is awakened by its companions, then you'll be facing two enemies."
"Why not take advantage of it before it wakes up and attack its companions first? If you succeed, your city can still obtain high-purity energy from the Divine Scion offspring."
City No. 3 Lord: "What if it fails?"
City Lord No. 2: "The ending will be the same. You don't think that its companions will let you go after they awaken it, do you?"
The City No. 3 Lord gritted his teeth and said, "Don't forget we're all in this together. If I'm gone, you won't have an easy time either."
City Lord No. 7: "The risk is indeed very high, but for the sake of our other eight cities, I think it's worth a try."
City No. 8 Lord: "No. 3, I'm the closest to you. Why don't you come and hide here for a while? That way, you won't be affected when that devastating weapon is activated."
City Lord Number 9: "Are you really going to do that? That's an entire city's worth of people."
City Lord No. 2: "Why don't we just move those researchers and some of the elites out? No. 3, hurry up and make a decision; time is of the essence."
City No. 3 Lord glanced at the surveillance footage.
The hematoma twitched a few more times, and the twitching became more and more obvious as time went on.
Clearly, it is about to truly "hatch" or awaken.
The City No. 3 Lord immediately led his men to evacuate the city, and he also informed the researchers and some elites.
Whether they have time to evacuate depends on their luck.
Skywing A had just reached the container.
A red light suddenly illuminated on the control panel.
The executive was startled and quickly pressed the buttons to operate the system.
He was sweating profusely with anxiety. "What happened? Why did the base's self-destruct mode activate?"
He quickly entered a command, trying to cancel the self-destruct mode, since he was still inside the building and there was definitely not enough time for him to escape.
No matter what commands he entered, the self-destruct mode could not be turned off. The executive's authority was quite high, and the only one who could override his commands was the city lord.
Realizing this was an order from the city lord, the executive's face fell in despair. "It's over."
He's going to be buried with those two monsters.
No, everyone in the entire building will be buried with these two monsters.
