"Seventh Elite Squad..."
Qian Yu pondered.
A squad worthy of the title "Elite" was undoubtedly the pinnacle of the military.
For the captain herself to personally invite a new recruit—that was a treatment not everyone could receive.
He looked at Shuang Yue and asked.
"If I refuse the captain's personal invitation, wouldn't that be ungrateful?"
The corners of Shuang Yue's lips lifted slightly, a trace of amusement flickering in her pale purple eyes.
"Smart man. Come on, let me introduce you to your teammates first."
She turned, her silver-white hair tracing a graceful arc through the air.
Qian Yu didn't hesitate. He lifted his foot and followed.
The veteran Realm Lord soldiers nearby could only disperse helplessly.
With Captain Shuang Yue personally stepping in, who would dare to compete?
Passing through the hall and walking along a corridor for a short while, Qian Yu was led to a relatively quiet rest area.
A long table was set up there, and six figures were already seated around it.
Shuang Yue took the main seat and gestured for Qian Yu to sit beside her.
"Everyone, come over and meet the new member."
The six rose and gathered around.
Shuang Yue pointed at Qian Yu and said calmly.
"This is Qian Yu, a new Realm Lord Battle General."
She then turned to the six and introduced them one by one.
"This is Mad Blade, Realm Lord Battle General, our squad's main martial artist."
A burly man with a massive war blade strapped to his back nodded at Qian Yu, his gaze sharp as a knife.
"This is Dark Dream, Realm Lord Battle General, an illusionist."
A seductive woman shrouded in faint mist winked at Qian Yu, her eyes seemingly able to ensnare one's soul.
"This is Iron Mountain, Realm Lord Battle General, a defensive martial artist."
A giant over three meters tall, with bulging muscles, grinned widely, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.
"This is Shadow, Realm Lord Battle General, an assassin."
A lean, expressionless man merely glanced at Qian Yu before looking away.
"This is Spirit Wind, Realm Lord Battle General, a spiritual psionicist."
A handsome young man with a gentle smile nodded at Qian Yu, his demeanor warm.
"And this is Shuang'er, Realm Lord Battle General, a support-type spiritual psionicist."
A young girl who looked not too old waved at Qian Yu, her smile sweet.
After finishing the introductions, Shuang Yue looked at Qian Yu.
"Our squad is fully staffed at ten. With you, we're still two short. But there's no rush—better to have none than to settle for less."
Qian Yu nodded.
This squad's composition was quite balanced: martial artist, illusionist, assassin, spiritual psionicist, and support—all present, and all at the Realm Lord Battle General level.
A lineup like this truly deserved the title of elite.
"Welcome aboard."
Mad Blade grinned.
"With fresh blood like you, our squad's strength will get another boost."
Dark Dream also smiled.
"Realm Lord Battle Generals aren't common, especially one fresh out of basic training—the potential is even greater. The captain really struck gold this time."
Shuang Yue said flatly.
"Alright, enough chatter. Qian Yu just arrived and needs time to adjust. Spirit Wind, take him to familiarize himself with the base."
Spirit Wind stood up and smiled.
"Qian Yu, follow me."
Qian Yu nodded and followed Spirit Wind out of the rest area.
Spirit Wind led Qian Yu through the base, explaining as they walked.
"This barracks base is about a million kilometers in diameter, divided into several zones: the living area, training area, intelligence area, medical area... each zone has its own function."
Spirit Wind pointed into the distance.
"That's the military merit exchange area. You can trade merits for all kinds of treasures, secret arts, and weapons. But since you just got here, your merit count is zero, so don't bother thinking about it for now."
Qian Yu nodded.
The two walked a bit further, and Spirit Wind gestured at a stretch of connected buildings.
"This is the living area. Our squad's quarters are over there. Each squad has its own independent zone, and the conditions aren't bad. You can pick a room later."
"The training area is over there, with all sorts of training facilities. Our squad has group training twice a week, led by the captain herself. The time will be announced in advance."
Qian Yu listened quietly, committing everything to memory.
After making a full round, Spirit Wind led him back to the squad's quarters.
It was an independent courtyard, not small in size, with over a dozen rooms inside.
Strange plants grew in the yard, emitting a faint glow that added a touch of life to the space.
Spirit Wind pointed at a few empty rooms.
"None of these are taken. Pick whichever one you like."
Qian Yu casually chose a room near the back and pushed the door open.
The room wasn't large, but it had all the necessary amenities.
Qian Yu sat down on the edge of the bed, closed his eyes, and began to regulate his breathing.
For the next month, he needed to properly adapt to this environment.
One month later.
Early morning, Qian Yu awoke from cultivation.
Over this past month, aside from occasionally attending the squad's group training, he spent most of his time cultivating in his room.
Though the time wasn't long, he had fully adjusted to the base's rhythm of life.
"Qian Yu, the captain wants you in the meeting hall."
Spirit Wind's voice came from outside the door.
Qian Yu got up and pushed the door open.
In the meeting hall, Shuang Yue sat at the head of the table, with the other six squad members already present.
Qian Yu found a seat and looked toward Shuang Yue.
Shuang Yue's gaze swept across everyone before she spoke slowly.
"This time, our target is the Dark Star Realm."
"The Dark Star Realm?"
Mad Blade raised an eyebrow.
"If I remember right, there are quite a few Yao Clans and Machine Clans over there now."
Shuang Yue nodded.
"That's right, so we'll need to be cautious this time."
Dark Dream frowned.
"The Dark Star Realm isn't exactly low-risk."
Shuang Yue said calmly.
"That's exactly why our squad is needed."
She looked at everyone, her gaze landing on Qian Yu.
"This is Qian Yu's first mission. Remember one thing: stay close to the team and don't act on your own."
Qian Yu nodded.
"Understood."
He hadn't planned to stay with the squad for long anyway. Coming to the Outer Domain Battlefield, he was destined to move alone—he just didn't have enough military merit yet to earn his freedom.
He was thinking, though, that if he happened to run into a few powerful alien races this time, taking them out would net him a massive amount of points directly.
Then he could earn his freedom right away and go off on his own.
But all of that depended on luck, so he wasn't in any particular rush.
Shuang Yue stood up.
"Everyone, get ready. We depart in one hour."
One month later, after three days of travel through the Dark Universe, the squad finally reached their destination.
The ship shuttled back from the Dark Universe into the original universe, and the view outside the porthole plunged into dim darkness.
This is a forgotten star domain—the Dark Star Realm.
In the distance, three massive dark red planets hung silently, surrounded by countless shattered asteroid belts and debris.
Occasional flashes of light flickered—battles unfolding far away.
"Stay sharp."
Shuang Yue rose to her feet, her gaze sweeping over the group.
"From now on, it's a bloody fight."
Mad Blade gripped the war blade on his back and grinned.
"Finally, I get to move."
Dark Dream shot him a glare.
"You're like this every time we're on a mission."
