Background / History

Ning Chuan is a transmigrator from Earth who was adopted by Old Tom, the village chief. Before his martial-soul awakening, he hoped cultivation would let him improve both his own life and Old Tom’s. His initial awakening appeared disastrous: the Green Bamboo Bee Cloud Sword came with only half a level of innate soul power and was judged weak by Su Yuntao. 1 2

At awakening, Ning Chuan obtained the God-Level Side Effect System. The system lets him assign a side effect caused by a benefit to another designated target, allowing him to keep the benefit while another person bears the cost. He later used this mechanism to overcome cultivation drawbacks and push his martial soul beyond its apparent limits. 2 14

Louise became his swordsmanship teacher after discovering that his innate soul power had risen to Level 5. Under her training, he rapidly mastered and surpassed her swordsmanship, reached Level 10 within a school year, and absorbed a six-hundred-year first spirit ring from a Soul Power Sacred Tree. 11 14 15

Ning Chuan subsequently enrolled at Shrek Academy, where his exceptional physical conditioning and combat ability earned Flender’s favor. He is also intensely disciplined. His early routine combined limit-breaking exercise, classes, meditation, sword training, combat practice, reading, and further nighttime cultivation. This work ethic remained notable even to Qian Renxue. 14 190
