More Information About the Panel

In the afternoon, the sun slanted westward, and dim yellow sunset tinged with a trace of chill shone into this lush primeval forest, casting mottled shadows.

Only after returning to the tree hollow that served as his safe shelter did Bai Chuan finally relax.

He sighed helplessly. "In the end, snake vision still held me back!"

Fortunately, today's experiences had given him a clearer understanding of the Panel.

Having eaten his fill, he had originally planned to search for creatures that possessed powerful abilities yet were weaker than him—such as the most famous examples: Cockroaches and Water Bears.

Yet after searching all afternoon, he had found absolutely nothing!

First were Cockroaches. Back when he was human, he would spot Cockroaches from time to time. Sometimes, the more he did not want to see them, the more they insisted on appearing before his eyes, plaguing him endlessly.

But now that he was deliberately trying to find Cockroaches, he could not find a single one. Or perhaps he had encountered them, only for them to fly away before he noticed; or perhaps he had encountered them but could not recognize them.

That was because his vision was now that of a snake. As mentioned before, snake vision was colorblind and sensitive only to moving things.

Sometimes, as he slithered past, if a Cockroach stayed still somewhere, he would not notice it at all.

So he simply could not find any.

Water Bears were even more ridiculous. Although he had heard their illustrious name in his previous life because those things were so absurdly formidable, he had only ever heard of them.

He vaguely remembered that they seemed to live in damp places by streams, usually clinging to things like moss.

So he searched all around the stream and barely managed to find something resembling moss. Yet no matter how hard he stared left and right, he simply could not find any information related to Water Bears.

He guessed that Water Bears were simply too tiny. His naked eyes in their current state could not see them at all, so naturally, he could not obtain their ability models.

As for why he had this guess, he had evidence. Besides deliberately searching for Cockroaches and Water Bears today, he had also tried every possible way to test the Panel's abilities along the way.

He discovered that his Panel did not seem to be a traditional system, but rather a special ability born from him.

Its scanning was not like the scans in conventional novels, where merely looking at a target once would reveal all of that target's information.

It had two methods of generation: eating and not eating.

First: eating. Unless he swallowed the target, his scan could not analyze all of the target's information and produce a model.

Second: not eating. If he did not render the target incapable of resistance, then no matter how intently he focused and stared at it, his scan would not react in the slightest.

Finally, whether he swallowed the target or rendered it incapable of resistance, scanning and acquiring its information to generate a model required time.

Scanning inside his stomach was the fastest. Next, the closer the target's size was to his own, the faster it was. The smaller the target, the slower it was.

This information had been provided respectively by the Python and Sharp-Snouted Viper in the morning, and the grasshopper and Frog at noon.

After eating the Sharp-Snouted Viper that morning, he had intended to leave when, halfway there, realization suddenly struck him. Why did he need to agonize over which food to eat in order to obtain an ability model?

That was right. He could not eat both snakes, but did he necessarily have to eat something to obtain its ability model?

Not necessarily. After all, he had the ability to scan.

All his previous agonizing had been a complete waste of time. His thoughts had failed to make the turn, and he had acted like a fool.

This sudden awakening made him return to the original spot and scan the Python's ability model as well. Only then did he discover that the speed differed between targets he swallowed and targets he scanned directly.

It could be said that direct scanning was only half as fast as swallowing the target.

This discovery led him to test the Panel's abilities while searching for the targets he wanted.

He further discovered that the closer a scanned target was to his own size, the faster the scan.

And among different species of the same size, the target he knew more about was often scanned faster.

This proved that the scanning ability and he complemented one another. As long as his knowledge and understanding increased, the Panel's scanning ability would improve alongside it.

If that was not his own ability, then what was?

After reviewing today's gains, he opened his personal Panel once more.

'Name: Bai Chuan.'

'Race: King Cobra.'

'Lifespan: 8 years.'

'Abilities: Final Growth LV2 (Details), Snake Venom LV2, Energy Saving Storage LV1, Danger Perception LV1, Strength LV1, Flexible LV1, Scales LV1, Swimming LV1...'

Bai Chuan carefully scanned the Panel again and found that its changes were exactly as he had predicted. Only then did he nod in satisfaction.

Because this proved that the rules he had previously summarized were not wrong, that they were not merely something he had imagined.

"Looks like after tonight, I'll have saved up 10% Points."

Bai Chuan nodded. Just as he was about to close the Panel, he suddenly froze.

Something was wrong!

He should know the answer tomorrow. Hopefully, it wasn't what he feared—that there was a time limit.

If that was the case, things would be truly troublesome.

Burdened by heavy thoughts, Bai Chuan activated Efficient Digestion Mode, closed his snake eyes, and sank into a deep sleep.

The next day, dawn had only just begun to break.

Bai Chuan woke early and hurriedly opened his Ability Panel, looking toward the Ability Structure Library.

However, now that the Wild Rabbit Model had disappeared, it seemed he would have to replenish it today. After all, that Wild Rabbit's Agility LV2 was quite powerful, well worth keeping.

Recalling the place where he had previously preyed on Wild Rabbit, Bai Chuan slowly crawled out of the tree hollow.

He slithered upward through this primeval forest.
