Background / History

The Panel activates shortly after Bai Chuan reincarnates as a King Cobra. When its data charge reaches 100%, it illuminates and scans his body, displaying his name, species, lifespan, points, abilities, and two stored models: Wild Hare and Rat. It provides no tutorial, system spirit, or automatic explanation. 1

Bai Chuan initially treats it as an external system, but later concludes that it is an ability born from himself. Its panel-like form reflects the interface most familiar to his subconscious, while its functions depend on his cognition, knowledge, and subjective recognition of what he observes. 6 137 306

As Bai Chuan grows, the Panel gains or reveals further functions: body-size statistics, collapsible ability categories, external editing, model preservation, source-point display, and a “Drivable” function. Its internal space also changes after Bai Chuan develops a world within himself; his personal ability model becomes his tangible body within that space. 19 28 49 373 402

Status Display

The Panel displays Bai Chuan’s current biological information and categorizes his abilities by level.

• Records such data as name, race, body length, lifespan, points, abilities, and the Ability Structure Library. 1 19
• Later organizes abilities into expandable level categories rather than listing every ability at once. 28
• Its displayed lifespan reflects cellular health and division count, rather than accounting for special lifespan-preserving abilities such as Deep Slumber. 142

Scanning

The Panel can generate an ability model for a living target through consumption or direct scanning.

• Devouring a target produces its model faster than direct scanning. 6
• A target closer to Bai Chuan’s size is scanned more quickly. 6
• Greater knowledge of a species also improves scanning speed. 6
• Bai Chuan must subjectively perceive a target; creatures he cannot see, such as microscopic organisms, do not produce visible models even if consumed. 137

Ability Structure Library

The Ability Structure Library stores scanned biological models and their ability structures.

Editing and Evolution

The Editable function opens a gray, hazy internal space where ability models can be inspected, altered, and fused.

• Evolution normally places him into deep sleep and encases him in viscous material that hardens into a shell or egg. 17 304
• A proposed modification must reach at least 50% compatibility to be safely evolved. 17
• Poorly matched structures can weaken existing abilities; adding kite chest musculature to Bai Chuan’s snake body reduces his Agility from LV2 to LV1. 17
• Some abilities possess concealed structural effects not shown in their basic description. Final Growth LV3, for example, increases bodily musculature and resolves certain conflicts between strength-related abilities. 28
• Unlike other beings, Bai Chuan’s Panel adapts evolved abilities to him with complete compatibility. 405

Editing Other Creatures

After scanning an already catalogued living creature, the Panel can mark it as editable.

• Bai Chuan can apply abilities from his own model to another creature. 49
