Background / History
Tang San originated in another world as an outer disciple of the Bashu Tang Sect. The Heavenly Curtain states that he stole the sect's ultimate techniques, including Mysterious Heaven Skill, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Purple Extreme Demon Eye, and hidden-weapon methods. Pursued by Tang Sect elders, he jumped from a cliff to his death. 22
The infant son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin was allegedly killed by the shockwave of Qian Xunji's attack. Tang San's soul then entered and occupied the dead infant's body, granting him the child's Twin Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. 24 Tang San later recognizes that this incident gave him the talent that formed the basis of his future rise. 31
As a child, Tang San practiced his former world's techniques in secret. Tang Hao noticed his unusual behavior and techniques, but continued raising him after Tang San awakened Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls, hoping Tang San could eventually take revenge on Martial Soul Hall. 23
At age six, Tang San entered the Soul Hunting Forest with Yu Xiaogang to acquire his first soul ring. Yu Xiaogang initially proposed a Ten-Year Solitary Bamboo, which Tang San found questionable. 4 When they encountered a Mandala Snake, Tang San used hidden weapons and Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to kill it and subsequently absorbed its soul ring. 6 7
Appearance
Tang San is initially presented as an ordinary-looking youth from a blacksmith's family, though his future status and combat ability sharply distinguish him from his peers. 20
- Carries concealed Tang Sect hidden weapons. 6
- Uses a Silent Sleeve Arrow, including when he considers targeting Yu Xiaogang and later Tang Hao. 7 33
- In the God Realm, wields a trident as the Sea God. 2
Personality
Tang San is calculating and strongly focused on preserving his route to godhood. Once the Heavenly Curtain exposes damaging details about his past and his relationship with Yu Xiaogang, he maintains an outwardly respectful master-disciple relationship because he believes breaking with Yu Xiaogang could alter the future that leads to his ascension. 8
He is wary of threats to his identity and survival. After learning Tang Hao may have known of his secret practices and body seizure, Tang San becomes fearful and prepares his concealed weapon against the man he still regards as a father figure for practical reasons. 24 33
Tang San can be persuasive toward Xiao Wu, convincing her to leave Shrek Academy with Tang Hao by appealing to her trust in him. 34 His future self resents Yu Xiaogang's claims of having raised him, believing his achievements were earned through his own efforts. 2
