Haicheng City, South City Police Station.
At 2:30 PM, the police hall was bustling with people—some handling traffic violations, others reporting lost ID cards, and even a couple brawling and seeking mediation. The noise made it feel like a vegetable market.
Just then, the glass door of the hall swung open.
A boy, who looked at most six years old, walked in.
He wore a coarse linen robe that seemed stitched from sackcloth, straw sandals on his feet, and a straw rope tied around his waist. The scent of earth and grass clung to him.
His outfit looked like it had been borrowed from a background extra in some period drama.
The little guy clasped his hands behind his back, his brows furrowed, and wore a dead-serious expression as he threaded through the crowd, heading straight for the reception desk.
Then...
He vanished!
The desk was too tall, and he was too short—completely blocked from view.
The female officer on duty, Xiao Lin, was bent over organizing files when she suddenly heard a childish yet remarkably steady knocking sound from below the counter.
"Thump, thump, thump."
Xiao Lin leaned out to look down and couldn't help but laugh.
There stood the little vagrant, straining on his tiptoes, tilting up a face as delicate as carved jade, staring at her with utter seriousness.
"Little buddy, did you get separated from your mom?"
Xiao Lin's maternal instincts kicked in. She fished a lollipop from her pocket and held it out.
"Don't be scared. Tell big sister your name, and I'll help you find your mom. Oh, who dressed you in this? Pretty retro—cosplaying as a Beggar Sect member?"
Su Yun stared at the strawberry lollipop offered to him, the corner of his mouth twitching.
He sighed, didn't take the candy, and instead braced his hands on the counter's edge, trying to project some authority—though it looked more like he was about to do a pull-up.
"Officer, please watch your wording. I'm not lost. I'm here to turn myself in."
"Pfft..."
Old Zhang, passing by with a thermos in hand, burst out laughing.
"Oh man, kids these days watch too many cartoons, huh? Turn yourself in? What'd you do? Steal cookies from kindergarten?"
Su Yun turned his head, casting a world-weary glance at Old Zhang. He ignored the teasing and looked back at Xiao Lin, calmly rattling off a string of names and addresses.
"Su Yun, male, former resident of Haicheng City, Binjiang Garden Phase 3, Building 14, Apt 502. ID number: 310xxxxxxxxx... I want to see your chief."
Xiao Lin froze.
Not because of anything else, but because the kid recited the ID number so smoothly, and that address...
It was indeed an old neighborhood in their jurisdiction.
Out of professional habit, she instinctively typed the number into the computer system and hit enter.
The next second, Xiao Lin's expression shifted.
The file that popped up wasn't child-related at all. It was a photo—a young man's ID picture.
And beside the photo, two glaring red characters stood out: [Missing].
"Little buddy..."
Xiao Lin's voice tightened as she stared at the notes on the screen.
"Whose ID number are you reciting? The system says this person is Su Yun, who went missing at twenty-three. If he were still alive, he'd be twenty-nine now..."
"And,"
Old Zhang leaned in, glancing at the screen. His brow furrowed into a deep crease, and his tone turned stern.
"The file says this Su Yun lost both parents, was an orphan, and had no relatives. How do you know his info? Who taught you?"
Su Yun looked at their wary expressions and rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
Just as he thought—explaining this was going to be a hassle.
"I am Su Yun."
Su Yun pointed at his own nose, his voice childish but clear and precise.
"Six years ago, I fell into a sewer and transmigrated. Now I'm back, just in a transmigrated form. Even though my body is only six, I'm still the same legal citizen at heart."
"Nonsense!"
Old Zhang slammed his thermos heavily onto the desk.
"Little buddy, lying is a bad habit! You're six years old—that Su Yun went missing when you were probably just born! How could you be the same person? Tell the truth right now. Where are your parents?"
Su Yun felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him, mostly from hunger.
He'd spent a whole day on Douluo Continent, dealing with the awakening ceremony and brushing off Su Yuntao's recruitment pitch.
Now that he was finally back on Earth, he had to put on a show of proving his identity at the police station.
He should've asked Su Yuntao for a steamed bun before coming back.
"Forget it. In the adult world, only what you see with your own eyes counts."
Su Yun shook his head, his gaze locking onto the thermos cup Old Zhang had just placed on the counter. "Comrade, let me borrow that cup for a moment."
"Ha? You want a drink too?" Old Zhang laughed in exasperation. "Fine, have a drink, then obediently tell me your parents' phone number."
Su Yun suddenly stepped back, clearing a space on the floor. He closed his eyes, and his small, childish hand slashed through the air! "Martial Soul, awaken!"
Though he only had tenth-level soul power, though he was just a six-year-old child, in that instant, a surge of energy from another world made the airflow in the entire hall stagnate.
Hum—!
The lights in the hall flickered once, emitting a crackling electrical sound. Under the stunned, disbelieving gazes of Old Zhang, Xiao Lin, and the dozen or so onlookers, the air in front of Su Yun seemed to tear apart like cloth under an invisible giant hand.
A pitch-black light gate, spinning with a deep blue vortex, materialized out of thin air on the tiled floor!
The gate wasn't tall—about one and a half meters, just enough for six-year-old Su Yun to crawl through. On the other side was a dense expanse of pristine grassland, utterly foreign to any city landscaping. A pink rabbit could even be seen grazing there, lifting its head in confusion, its ruby-like eyes staring back through the gate at the people in the police station.
"What the... hell?!" Old Zhang was so startled he fell flat on his bottom, the lid of his thermos flying off as a curse slipped out.
The hall fell dead silent. Everyone froze in place, as if someone had hit the pause button.
Before anyone could react with terror, Su Yun moved swiftly, grabbing the thermos cup off the counter. Then, that small figure actually stepped forward and dove straight into the spinning azure vortex!
"Hey! Don't go in! It's dangerous!" Xiao Lin cried out, instinctively reaching to grab him, but her hand caught only air. Her fingers brushed the edge of the light gate, feeling nothing but a bone-chilling cold.
Everyone in the hall held their breath, staring fixedly at the gate leading to the unknown.
Less than twenty seconds passed.
A muddy little foot stepped out first, followed by Su Yun's calm little face. His linen clothes seemed even dirtier now, with a few blades of grass clinging to them. He still clutched Old Zhang's large stainless steel thermos tightly, but now it was stuffed full—packed with fresh Blue Silver Grass, roots still clinging to damp soil!
Su Yun thrust this otherworldly local specialty toward the dumbstruck Old Zhang, his small face bearing a calmness far beyond his years. "This grass is called Blue Silver Grass. It's everywhere in that world over there. Now, do you believe that ID number belongs to me?"
Su Yun paused, patted his empty stomach, and added, "Also, Officer, could you get me a KFC family bucket? The kind with egg tarts. I waited in line all day to awaken my martial soul over there, and I'm really hungry."
