Background

Tang San has lived two lives and retains the memories, skills, and strict principles of his former life as a Tang Sect outer disciple. He considers the Mysterious Heaven Skill and other Tang Sect arts sacred, making him deeply conflicted when he considers teaching the technique to Su Yun despite his gratitude toward him 47.

As a Work-Study Student, Tang San was identified by Yu Xiaogang as possessing Twin Martial Souls. He nearly accepted Yu Xiaogang as his master, but Su Yun's intervention and later exposure of Yu Xiaogang's motives caused Tang San to reassess the value of character over reputation and theory 15 19.

Tang San joined Su Yun's Soul Hunting Forest expedition. Rather than follow Yu Xiaogang's poison-focused plan for Blue Silver Grass, he chose the Golden Sun Crown Sunflower after sensing its powerful affinity with his martial soul.
