From the looks of it,
these gu worms were somewhat different from what he had imagined. The host's entire set of perceptions had not been wholly replaced; rather, their normal perceptions and the perceptions influenced by the gu worms existed independently, side by side.
Shen Yi said bluntly,

Manager Wu's gaze lingered for a moment on the brimming teacup atop the table. A flicker of hesitation passed through his eyes, but amid Shen Yi's urging, they quickly cleared again. He said at once,
"Hero Shen, please come this way with your friends."
With that, Manager Wu led Shen Yi and the others toward the garden in the rear courtyard. Along the way, Shen Yi's group encountered all manner of people in blue robes.
They were presumably all Heaven's Secret Pavilion stewards, overseeing the sorting and delivery of intelligence throughout Southern Prefecture. The group arrived at a two-story pavilion in the rear courtyard.
The pavilion was named "Wenyuan."
Manager Wu pushed open the doors and led everyone upstairs. A study came into view, with the four treasures of the scholar's desk arranged across the writing table.
A row of pigeon cages hung before the window.
Each cage housed white pigeons.
"These pigeons are used to relay urgent intelligence to the Pavilion Master. Hero Shen is an honored guest of Heaven's Secret Pavilion, so naturally, you may use them."
Shen Yi grinned.
"Good."
"Lend me a brush."
"Manager Wu, please step aside for a moment."
Manager Wu suspected nothing and even found it perfectly natural. Without the slightest hesitation, he moved to stand by the windowsill.
