Shen Hui joined Clear Wind Temple, advanced rapidly through cultivation, and developed a powerful fire art that trapped demons. After killing the Wolf Demon near Li Family Village, he returned to the temple and quickly mastered the Aura Observation Art.
Shen Hui developed his magic, defeated the Dark Yin Hermit, and traveled with Ji Chen to Qu County, where they began investigating its supernatural troubles. After uncovering a buried infant spirit and killing Scholar Li and a Qishan Sect cultivator, Shen Hui prepared to investigate Zhang Family Village.
Shen Hui investigated Widow Wang’s death and the disappearance of children, uncovering a child sale tied to a county clerk while rescuing Xu Afu. After helping Monk Faming deliver a roadside ghost and recovering Zhang Qi’s stolen cart, Shen Hui headed to the Mass Grave, where they found a strange creature digging in a grave.
Shen Hui killed Bai Yulian, buried the dead, and later destroyed a troupe that abducted and mutilated children. He rescued Lu Huan, who became Ji Chen’s disciple, and the arc ended as Shen Hui watched Fang Yan’s public execution with her.
Shen Hui resolved the White Water River disturbances, killing a Crab Demon and uncovering a Jiafunu parasite before reuniting with Lu Huan. After preparing to return to Clear Wind Temple, he joined a caravan and confronted bandits who ate people, leaving with one captured guide to lead him to their hideout.
Shen Hui killed Fu Yunshan and returned to Clear Wind Temple, where he uncovered Qingyi’s ties to White Bone Hall and fought him. When Ji Chen turned on the temple, Shen Hui inherited its leadership, reached Foundation Establishment through a desperate attempt to survive, and was found beside the wreckage by Deacon Can and a young disciple.
After awakening in a new body with the Soul-Searching Gourd, Shen Hui joined forces with the Daoist whose body he shared and pursued the people behind the corpse plague. He rescued Lu Huan, destroyed several threats, and turned toward Yanuo Valley, where a scholar noticed her calligraphy.
Shen Hui traveled with Lu Huan and a grieving merchant, fought a Mountain Spirit that attacked the travelers, and explored a dangerous cavern beneath Apewing Mountain. After restoring the mountain and treating the travelers, he left an enchanted stone guardian behind as he and Lu Huan continued on.
Shen Hui traveled to Yuanqiu County, uncovered the Plague Emperor Sect’s atrocities, and destroyed its forces there while bringing his Clear Wind Temple companions out of the gourd in stone bodies. He left Yanluo Valley ruined and learned from Liu Mengshu how the sect’s Gu and walking corpses worked.
Shen Hui destroyed the Miasma Mother, developed the Five Elements Divine Light, and traveled with Lu Huan through forgotten ruins and troubled towns. He returned to Clear Wind Temple, killed Second Senior Uncle and Ji Chen, and began a period of cultivation after uncovering a mysterious plaque.
After completing his Golden Core, Shen Hui descended the mountain with Lu Huan and confronted soldiers, bandits, and supernatural threats amid the collapse of Great Shuo. He freed White Carp from the River Goddess shell and left with Lu Huan after hearing of a villager’s dangerous illness.
Shen Hui and Lu Huan traveled east, confronting corrupt beggars, a corpse plague, murderous shrines, and blood-tainted rice. After joining Mo Yunsong and Sun Chengying, Shen Hui stopped a general’s revenge-driven massacre and left with the group caring for an abandoned infant.
Shen Hui and his companions survived the corpse plague and a series of hauntings before reaching famine-stricken Zhaoyang, where Mo Yunsong sought grain for the refugees. Shen Hui grew a vast peach tree to feed them, then continued east with Lu Huan and encountered weasels disguised as innkeepers and a wary group of travelers.
Shen Hui and Lu Huan crossed demon-haunted villages and ruined Echo Pavilion, then continued toward Jingzhou while helping travelers along the way. After killing Pei Wan and meeting Xu Ye, they learned of Penglai Island’s true nature and heard a story about an Old Taoist who died defending refugees.
Shen Hui and Lu Huan traveled through plague-stricken lands, destroyed the vine spirit consuming Cold Spring County, and reached Severed Connection Mountain. Shen Hui wiped out the Plague Emperor Sect and its allies, then returned to Lu Huan and began salvaging the mountain pavilion.
Shen Hui destroyed the Blood Banner Army in Floating Cloud County, protected its survivors, and continued south while investigating Corpse Demons. He gathered new companions and disciples, revealed his Golden Core cultivation, and set out to seek mountains and ancient ruins.
Shen Hui defeated the demonic lotus at Seed-Jade Nunnery, then investigated a village poisoning and traced it to a Poisonbird. He found a potential home for Clear Wind Temple in a floating mountain and learned from Bixi how it had risen above the valley.
