Seeing that Lonzell remained silent, Rhaenys sighed inwardly. The boy was good in every way, except that he was too cautious. How could she not know what Lonzell feared and what he wanted?
"Cousin, this is for the future of the realm and the Dragonlord family." Rhaenys continued persuading him. "His Majesty the King will personally sail to Dragonstone as well. He values Daemon's proposal greatly. The queen's children will come too. Viserys hopes to use this opportunity to let the young Dragonriders witness a true dragon battle, and to mend the rift in the realm's bloodline."
Lonzell continued smiling at the old princess. His deep violet eyes were unfathomable, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking. "And what about you, Your Highness? You are the wife of Lord Corlys. Why are you willing to run about for Cousin Daemon?"
"I am also a Targaryen Dragonrider, Cousin," Rhaenys replied. "It is the duty that dragonriders must bear for the family. Besides..." A trace of anger and sorrow entered the old princess's voice. "That wild dragon attacked Seasmoke. That was my dead son's dragon. Seeing it always reminds me of my little Laenor."
"Can Dragonstone guarantee that the missing dragon eggs were not taken by people?" Lonzell's expression returned to normal. He had indeed worried that this might be a trap laid by the Targaryen family, but with matters having reached this point, it was difficult for him to refuse.
Rhaenys nodded. "That can be guaranteed. Dragonstone's Dragonkeepers will inspect every clutch of dragon eggs alongside Daemon. Since my grandfather's reign, every ship entering or leaving Dragonstone has been strictly searched to prevent dragon eggs from being smuggled out." As she spoke, Rhaenys gave Lonzell a meaningful look. Still, this is the first time I've seen brothers like you
