Though they were not redwoods, they rose over a hundred meters tall, with trunks as wide as ten meters across.
The dense canopies of every giant tree pressed tightly together, leaving no sliver of sunlight able to penetrate.
Viewed from a distant mountain, the expanse covered by the forest canopy would give one the illusion of being able to walk across it as though on level ground.
As a result, sunlight was rarely seen within the forest. A cold, gloomy chill flowed through the air, while the ground, littered with fallen leaves and branches, was damp and foul-smelling.
Walking through such a dark and frigid environment, it felt as though something lurked restlessly within every patch of darkness in sight.

Whether the road ahead was right or wrong remained unknown.
But crossing this forest now was clearly no easy task.
Everyone in the team had their nerves stretched taut, remaining alert to every rustle around them.
This was, after all, part of the Dark Continent. Even in an inconspicuous little corner like this, some unreasonable and bizarre creature could leap out at any moment.
By comparison, the colossal creatures Netero had once described were actually easier to deal with.
After all, those things could be seen with the naked eye...
