On a small road not far from the guild, Ul suddenly felt an inexplicable chill run through him and couldn't help shivering.

"Why do I suddenly feel a little sick..."

Ul crossed his arms and rubbed them vigorously, feeling a little puzzled.

C-rank jobs usually paid at least thirty thousand J, far more than D-rank jobs!

That was because although C-rank jobs, like D-rank jobs, weren't particularly dangerous,

Compared with the other attributes, "Magic Power" was obviously the one that increased the fastest.

The farm wasn't very far from the Fairy Tail guild, so Ul reached the job's destination after a short walk.

After glancing around,

Ul saw that the farm wasn't very large. Most of what it grew was vegetables, though quite a few had already been destroyed...

In the middle of the farm stood a simple straw hut.

Standing outside the farm, Ul called out, "Is anyone here?"

As soon as the words left his mouth,

a short, stout figure slowly emerged from the hut.

He was a middle-aged man, but right now, he looked utterly miserable.

"May I ask what you want?" the middle-aged man asked when he saw Ul.

"I'm a Mage from Fairy Tail. I'm here to take care of the job..." Ul was eager to finish the task and couldn't be bothered with small talk. He simply showed the middle-aged man the job request in his hand and the guild emblem on his chest.

When the short, stout middle-aged man heard Ul, he froze for a moment, then immediately grew excited!

"Mr. Mage, you're finally here! If you hadn't come soon, I wouldn't have been able to go on..."

The middle-aged man was so excited that tears and snot streamed down his face. He grabbed Ul's hands tightly, sobbing and sniffling all over him. Watching him made Ul... feel sick!

"Sir, please calm down. Let's talk this through!"

Ul unobtrusively pulled his hands free of the middle-aged man's grasp, took a step back, and spoke.

Mages held a high status in this world!

So most people added the word "sir" when speaking to a Mage.

"Mr. Mage, you have no idea how badly that pig... that pig has made my life miserable! If you hadn't come, I wouldn't have been able to survive this year!" Ever since Ul appeared, the middle-aged man had been wailing nonstop.

Clearly, that man had really been tormented by the pig. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have been so emotional.

Seeing how miserable the middle-aged man was, Ul really wanted to sympathize with him!

But for some reason,

he found that he couldn't sympathize with him at all.

In fact, not only could he not sympathize with him, Ul felt an urge to laugh...
