Background / History
Wei Yi was a young man from Earth who transmigrated into a weak, malnourished body in the world of Fairy Tail. Awakening as Ul, he found himself in a guild-supported orphanage, where he was already acquainted with Natsu Dragneel and Happy. His knowledge of the original story gave him an immediate, if incomplete, understanding of the world and its future dangers. 1 2
Ul discovered a system interface in his mind, initially calling it “Reality’s System.” After recharging it, he obtained the passive ability Hero · Cho’Gath, beginning the pattern of using money and treasure to draw abilities, cultivate, and strengthen himself. 1 3
After quickly learning basic water magic, Ul entered Fairy Tail through the orphanage branch. Wakaba accepted him after observing his rapid spellcasting, and Makarov formally recognized him as a guild member by placing Fairy Tail’s mark on his chest. Ul immediately began accepting missions to earn money and build strength. 7 9
Appearance
Ul was initially physically frail and undernourished, though recovery through his passive abilities and meditation soon left him visibly sharper and more energetic. 2 6 After using Creation magic to produce a body compatible with Wei Yi’s soul, his appearance changed so drastically that most former acquaintances would not recognize him. 435
- His recreated body is described as a blend of Ul’s former appearance and Wei Yi’s past-life features. 435
- Following his higher-dimensional evolution, his physique remained outwardly unchanged, but his aura became noticeably different. 487
- He is often recognized by the large Panda he rides rather than by his own appearance. 425 457
Personality
Ul is analytical, pragmatic, and strongly motivated by survival. Unlike many Fairy Tail mages, he prefers decisive victories over drawn-out, “fair” fights; he sees mercy toward enemies as potentially dangerous and is willing to kill hostile opponents who threaten him or his allies. 65 66 304
He is also highly disciplined. Ul repeatedly spends months training magic, swordsmanship, physical techniques, and mental power, even when his excessive Magic Power leaves him exhausted or unable to control his destructive output. 54 99 208
Despite his harsh methods, Ul is protective of Fairy Tail and increasingly attentive to its members. He intervenes over Lucy’s injury, rushes to aid Mira during the Beast King mission, attempts to prevent Fairy Tail’s conflict with Phantom Lord, and later accepts responsibility for the guild during its crisis. 111 241 260 413
Abilities & Skills
Invincible Passive System
Ul’s system grants passive abilities, talents, skills, attribute tracking, and later a deduction function. It is fueled through monetary or treasure-based recharges, making wealth directly relevant to his advancement. 3 61 371 500
- Recorded passives and talents include Infinite Stomach, Galaxy Body, Sword Soul’s Heart, Balance of All Things, God-Slaying Bloodline, Dragon Slayer Bloodline, Heart of Time, Spatial Body, and Soul Guide. 487
- The system’s passive draws repeatedly enhance his physical attributes, Magic Power, Mental Power, defenses, aptitude, and combat potential. 12 93 417
- Ul uses the deduction function to upgrade and adapt his skills to the higher-dimensional energy gained through evolution. 500
Elemental and Magic Circle Magic
Ul learned basic water and earth magic before developing destructive elemental spells and advanced Magic Circle techniques. 7 16 482
- Water Magic — mastered water control, Water Shield, and Water Bullet within three days. 7
- Earth and Rock Magic — uses Earth Spike, Rock Spike, Rock Claw, and related terrain-shaping techniques. 16 31 65
- Magma Giant Claw / Magma Prison — summons massive claws to strike, contain, and imprison targets; it defeated Lyon and temporarily restrained Mirajane. 146 304
- Wind Magic — employs Wind Barrier to constrain movement and Destruction Storm as a super high-level destructive spell. 205 359
- Rotation — converts and mutates Magic Power into varying elemental properties; this unpredictability also affects spells such as Starfall. 482 487
- Starfall — an area bombardment spell based on celestial magic that rains mixed elemental attacks from Magic Circles formed in the sky. 482
Magma Beast Armor
Originally acquired through the Magma Beast passive, this ability evolved into Ul’s own talent and provides a major physical and defensive transformation. 93
- Enhances Ul’s combat performance beyond the earlier Beast Power passive. 93
- Its armor endured Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Secret Art, though the impact visibly cracked it. 359
- The armor’s defensive value remained significant even after its offensive boost became less central to Ul’s overall strength. 359
Swordsmanship
Ul is a dedicated swordsman whose technique, physical conditioning, and Dark Dragon Blade allow him to defeat stronger-looking opponents efficiently. 54 111 375
- Reached a swordsmanship breakthrough by cutting a straw dummy in still air during intensive training. 54
- His recorded Basic Sword Arts reached +20, with True Meaning of the Sword, Armor Break, and Magic Breaking effects. 487
- Used Blade Art · Light Extinction against the Amethyst Crystal Dragon. 424
- Defeated Erza Knightwalker and multiple Edolas soldiers while relying primarily on swordsmanship and limited magic. 375 377
Spatial Talent
Ul’s Spatial Body grants applications beyond storage, including rapid long-distance movement. 487 492
- Can advance more than ten meters with each step, effectively shrinking distance beneath his feet. 492
- Used spatial means to travel quickly while pursuing Fairy Tail during the Tartaros crisis. 492
- Opened a portal for Gray so he could face the consequences of his choices. 304
Creation Magic
After studying Fairy Tail’s library and Fairy Sphere’s original Magic Circle, Ul developed Creation, a body-modification secret art intended to make his body compatible with his transmigrated soul. 432 536
- Uses advanced Transformation Magic’s Biological Transformation as its foundation. 432
- Rebuilt his body from within, fundamentally changing both its nature and his appearance. 435 536
- Can separate Magic Power from the body, though doing so leaves him physically hollow until he replenishes energy. 536
Dragon-Related Power
Ul is publicly known as Fairy Tail’s “Dragon Slayer” and possesses a Dragon Slayer Bloodline talent. 208 425 487
- His Dragon Slayer Bloodline significantly increases the damage his magic inflicts on dragons. 424
- He defeated and consumed the Blood Dragon, returning to Ishgar stronger than before. 457
- He later obtained large quantities of dragon materials from the dragon battle and used them in seclusion and equipment forging. 484 459
