It wasn't just Ul who was taken aback. Even Gildarts and Mira, who had just reached the castle, looked stricken.
There were simply too many beasts. No matter how strong they were, their sheer numbers were enough to bury Ul and the others alive!
The castle wasn't very big to begin with. Under the moonlight, the whole area around it was now filled with only two things: the beasts' pitch-black bodies and the hundreds of pairs of crimson eyes.
"What's going on? How can there be so many beasts here?" Gildarts looked stunned.
Monsters tainted by demonic power were known as "beasts." These creatures were extremely rare under normal circumstances, yet so many had appeared here today. How could he not be shocked?
"It'll take too long to explain the whole situation..." Ul shook his head, then walked up to the three Beast Apostles. His expression darkened as he grabbed one of them by the collar and demanded, "You can see the situation we're in. If you don't want to die, tell us how to solve this at once!"

One of the Beast Apostles looked utterly hopeless, his face deathly pale. "We smuggled all these beasts here ourselves. There are five hundred of them, and they're all under someone's control now. Unless we can defeat the one controlling them, there's no way we can hold them back."
Truthfully, the Beast Apostle was feeling pretty bitter too. They had gone to great lengths to create so many beasts, intending to increase the power of the blond man. They hadn't expected to end up doing all that work for someone else.
