After the rainy season came a stretch of sunny days. Under the blazing sun, the waterlogged mud dried out and began to stink.
The stench of dried mud mixed with the smell of various waterlogged corpses, sending the air quality in Odyssey plummeting.
"Meow..."
The thick stench in the air was like a poison gas bomb to the sharp-nosed Cat-men.
The Cat-men of Kurd were listless. Wearing the cotton masks Medivh had handed out, they stayed at home with their ears drooping.
The Skeleton Mages in the High Tower regularly cast Cleanse to remove the stench from the air, keeping the air inside Tower No. 1 fresh.
Medivh was used to spending time around bones, so he had a high tolerance for foul smells.
Of course, if he could work in a better environment, he wouldn't pass up the chance.
Ever since he learned Cleanse, Medivh had used only odorless corpses when refining and reviving beings. He also kept a Skeleton Mage nearby as an air freshener.
"Go reclaim farmland."
"Collect the bones washed out by the floods."
After clearing the corpses around Kurd, Medivh issued two new orders in quick succession.
The foul-smelling mud made excellent fertilizer, so he had the Skeleton Farmers clear land around Kurd.
The floods had stripped away the topsoil, washing many bones to the surface. They were easy to gather.
"Expand the patrol area!"
He immediately issued a third order, telling the Skeleton Legion to widen its surveillance perimeter.
The floods had devastated wildlife no less than the Bloodthirsty Mosquito disaster. There was little prey to be found in the Wilderness.
Waterlogged corpses were their last meal. Once the food stores ran out, hungry bandits and members of alien tribes would leave their camps and raid the surrounding area.
Hunger would drive those forces
