Background / History

The Mystic Sword Sect fought a war against the Corpse Sha Sect before the events at Sishui Town. The Corpse Sha Sect lost more than a dozen Foundation Establishment cultivators, ceded territory including Sishui Town, and forcibly removed the town’s inhabitants rather than leave them behind for the Mystic Sword Sect. 3

Five years later, the conflict had shifted. The Corpse Sha Sect had launched a large offensive and seized territory, but suffered severe losses among mid- and late-stage Qi Refining cultivators as well as Foundation Establishment cultivators. 22 Rumors later claimed that the Mystic Sword Sect had been beaten back, ceded further territory, and surrendered the mortals living there; Fang Huai doubted such a victory was possible without top-tier Corpse Sha Sect cultivators entering the war. 40

Green Parasol City became a focal point after it was ceded to the Corpse Sha Sect. Although other Mystic Sword Sect cultivators had withdrawn, Lin Yu remained behind to protect its residents from being taken by Corpse Sha Sect disciples. 41 42 The sect did not send reinforcements after the city’s transfer, even when the Demon-Trapping Array was triggered and the Green Scab Spider threatened the city. 47

Territory and Civilian Rule

The sect’s disciples are associated with refined spiritual techniques and sword arts rather than body refinement. Corpse Sha Sect cultivators believe Mystic Sword Sect disciples are physically weaker at the same realm, though Lin Yu’s combat ability disproves that assumption. 31 34 41

The Mystic Sword Sect’s victory over the Corpse Sha Sect drives the forced relocation of Sishui Town’s population. Feng Wuwang orders the deaths of townspeople who fail to arrive, arguing that they cannot be left for the Mystic Sword Sect. 2 3

Capture of Li Sirou

Li Sirou attacks Fang Huai while he is suffering from the consequences of leaving Corpse Sha Sect territory. Meng Yi and other Corpse Sha Sect disciples capture her with an Immortal-Catching Net, after which she is sold at Red Leaf Market. 31 33

Green Parasol City

Lin Yu refuses to surrender Green Parasol City’s mortals to the Corpse Sha Sect. He hosts the visiting Corpse Sha Sect disciples at Spirit Dew Mansion while attempting to make them understand the difference between the city and the towns under their own sect. 41 42

During the Green Scab Spider crisis, Lin Yu fights alongside the Corpse Sha Sect group despite their hostility. After his sect’s reinforcements fail to come, he gives Crimson Sky Cry to Fang Huai and asks him to save the mortals. 46 47

Following the spider’s death, Lin Yu dissolves his blood pact with Crimson Sky Cry and gives the sword to Fang Huai permanently. He then leads Green Parasol City’s residents away from the approaching Corpse Sha Sect disciples. 49
