Background

Cai Lin ruled the Snake-People Race under the name Medusa Queen. She maintained a ruthless, unapproachable image because the race was surrounded by human nations and depended on her strength for survival. Her rule and cultivation were devoted to leading her people out of the barren Tagor Desert. 84 97

Seeking to break through by evolving the accompanying Violet Nether Flame Serpent Beast Soul within her, Medusa pursued the Green Lotus Core Flame. Her attempt to claim it brought her into conflict with Xiao Bai, Hai Bodong, and Yao Lao. Xiao Bai removed her crown, exposing her to his Soul Strength, and placed a Soul Seal in her Sea of Consciousness. 82 84

Although initially enraged by Xiao Bai's proposal that she become his pet or maid, Cai Lin accepted an arrangement: he would assist her evolution and later return her freedom, while she would help him with three matters. She subsequently aided in removing Hai Bodong's seal. 84 86
