Background

Ji Xiaoxiao is Ji Ruo’s Inner Demon, but differs from ordinary Inner Demons formed from negative emotions and obsessions. He embodies the “bratty child” side that Ji Ruo deliberately suppressed: arrogant, impulsive, and unconcerned with consequences until they catch up to him. Ji Ruo gave him the temporary name “Ji Xiaoxiao” because of his tiny body; Ji Xiaoxiao accepted it only because he intended to inherit the name “Ji Ruo” after the original body died 167 174.

Soon after manifesting at First Martial School, Ji Xiaoxiao used the Contract ability to unite minor Inner Demons under his control. His faction grew to roughly one-third of the school’s Inner Demons before he effectively conquered the campus’s Inner Demon population 169 173 175.

Chen Mo later transferred his accumulated power, Inner Demons, and Principal Identity Card to Ji Xiaoxiao. As principal, Ji Xiaoxiao rejected the faculty’s view that Inner Demons were simply abnormal threats. He established the Inner Demon Residence, allowing students to confront, speak with, or spar against their own Inner Demons rather than suppressing them blindly 175 176 177.

After stepping down, he retained authority over the Inner Demon Residence as an honorary vice principal. He continued operating independently while supporting Ji Ruo through portals, shadow clones, combat, editing work, and the management of the Inner Demon community 177 302.

Ji Xiaoxiao resembles a miniature version of Ji Ruo. His body is usually palm-sized or small enough to stand on Ji Ruo’s shoulder, though his size can temporarily increase with emotional nourishment or absorbed power.

Ji Xiaoxiao is loud, prideful, blunt, and aggressively self-assured. He habitually refers to Ji Ruo as “old man” despite being physically smaller and, later, chronologically older. He speaks without considering the effect on others, threatens people casually, and is easily provoked by perceived disrespect 168 280 318.

His arrogance is tempered by initiative and competence. As principal, he developed a practical system for Inner Demons; as a director, he learned editing, pacing, filming, music, dubbing, and production management. He is particularly invested in making battles look impressive, believing that a proper fight needs suitable background music and presentation 176 177 268 303.
