Dawn came quickly, as though driven on by something...

The night had still carried a lingering sense of length, but in an instant, morning light had turned the window paper bright.

And so it scattered away.

"By the time, it should be time for morning lessons." Yuzhen lazily sat up from the bed and explained herself as naturally as could be.

Jiang Wang said nothing.

He lay flat on the floor with his eyes closed, as if he had not yet awakened.

A body still recovering from grave injuries was always prone to drowsiness. He slept and woke, woke and slept.

He had not slept enough last night, nor was he fully awake.

But this should not have felt so natural... a voice in his heart said.

Yuzhen did not mind. She simply assumed he was truly asleep.

Getting out of bed, she easily picked him up and carried him toward the bed, saying, "Oh, you poor little thing. How can you lie on the floor? What if you catch a chill? You really never let anyone stop worrying about you."

Her languid voice was like an oriole's song.

As though she had not been the one to throw Jiang Wang off the bed last night.

The badly injured and powerless Jiang Wang seemed to be drifting at sea. The water bearing him up was soft and vast, yet dangerous.

It could carry him to where he needed to go, or bury him beneath its depths.

Only when he landed on the bed did it feel as though he had reached shore, with the solid, real sensation of having his feet on the ground.

"Lying on the floor for one night lets you absorb earth energy. It's good for your injuries. But you can't lie there for too long."
