For a skilled coroner,
dissecting a corpse was the simplest thing in the world.
It was hardly any different from cutting pork.
But if the corpse belonged to someone close to you...
it was hard to keep your hands from trembling.
Who could be without feeling?
At Jiang Wang's question,
Lin Youxie was silent for a moment, then closed the wooden box and put it back in her Storage Box.
"I forgot to drink it," she said calmly.
Zheng Shangming didn't know that Lin Youxie had Terror Phobia, so he couldn't understand the emotions behind their exchange.
He simply asked, "Deputy Inspector Lin, have you finished the examination?"
"Mm, I'm done," Lin Youxie replied.
"Any clues?" Zheng Shangming asked.
"Do you really want to know?" Lin Youxie asked.
"Of course," Zheng Shangming said. "What, are you unable to tell me?"
"The deceased had seven wounds. Only one could be called fatal: a piercing wound through the skull, likely caused by a finger-pointing wind technique. The index finger.
"The remaining six wounds were clearly inflicted after death. They were very irregular, and were likely caused by a scavenging fish called an 'Insect Rhinoceros Fish' found near Sea Gate Island.
"I believe the true cause of death was the collapse of his Divine Soul. His Golden Body and Jade Marrow only disintegrated after he died. The blow to the skull was inflicted afterward, merely to muddy the waters.
"I have good reason to suspect that his killer wasn't from the outer seas, and that Sea Gate Island wasn't where he first died..."
Lin Youxie spoke in one breath, then looked at Zheng Shangming. "I've said all this. Will the Northern Office investigate the Great Marsh Tian Clan?"
Zheng Shangming froze, then answered awkwardly, "Well, that depends on what the people above decide."
