"Why won't you open the gate?!"
Above the solemn, ancient altar hung an enormous sphere of churning Chaos. When the Chaos occasionally parted, birds and beasts, rivers and cloud-capped peaks could be seen within. When it gathered again, azure thunder and violet lightning, crimson fire and gray haze appeared.
Beneath that enormous sphere of churning Chaos, an angry voice growled low.
The suppressed pain within it was like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
The one growling was a monk with sharply defined features.
A face that ought to have brought others much radiance was now buried beneath pain.
There were wounds on his face, sliced open by wind like blades. The one on his left brow was especially notable—a narrow gash cut across its left third.
He had come too fast. When he broke through space, he had been wounded by a stray current of wind.
He had also nearly triggered the Gate of Ten Thousand Demons' counterattack and had his Dharma body ground away.
The person he was questioning wore a bamboo hat, a straw rain cape, and straw sandals. He sat cross-legged on the ground, a sheathed saber laid across his knees.
He was naturally Qin Changsheng, one of the three Human Race Dao Derivations currently guarding Sui Ming City—the Qin Kingdom True Lord who had once faced Shi Anxuan on the Southern Heaven Battlefield.
"Isn't it open?" he asked blandly.
"You know what I mean!" the furious monk growled.
"Which gate do you want opened?" Qin Changsheng asked evenly.
"Of course, the gate leading to Divine Firmament Land!" the monk said agitatedly. "My sect's Master Xingnian is inside, knocking at the gate!"
Qin Changsheng remained utterly calm. "As far as I know, the Gate of Ten Thousand Demons does not lead to Divine Firmament Land.
