In Dao Calendar Year 3917, a dying youth named Jiang Wang found a Vein-Opening Pill amid a pool of thick blood and shredded flesh outside a dilapidated Daoist temple called Huanzhen.
It was the Heavenly Origin Great Pill that Great Chu's prodigy, Zuo Guanglie, had prepared for his younger brother, Zuo Guangshu.
And so every story began.
Zuo Guanglie's compassion in battle had protected the dying beggar child within Huanzhen Temple.
Zuo Guanglie's obsession before death had allowed this pill alone to survive the explosion of the Seed of Zhurong.
But Li Yi—the man who had come from the west with a single sword and slain Zuo Guanglie—had also silently permitted all of this to happen.
Jiang Wang inherited Zuo Guanglie's karma, but he also had to bear the favor of Li Yi leaving behind that pill—
The Heavenly Origin Great Pill was incomparably precious, though Li Yi perhaps did not care about it at all.
In a certain sense, it had been Li Yi's trophy of war. Though after killing Zuo Guanglie, he had sought nothing at all.
The sick beggar left in that broken temple had then been worth less than an ant. No one cared whether he lived or died. Had the beggar children who were likewise no more than ants, dying so hastily in the aftermath of that battle, not left a deep enough impression?
Thus Jiang Wang would draw his sword against Li Yi, but never deceive him in the dark, nor carry Hateful Heart within him. He would only issue an open and honorable challenge, letting Longing cry out today for Zuo Guanglie.
Today, he had become... what Zuo Guanglie had failed to become: a True Person.
Today, he had already created a legend that even Zuo Guanglie had never created.
