A Word From The Author

This is the author's second book, and as per tradition, I'm writing an on-shelf reflection.

It's been a while since I've chatted with everyone, so let me share the author's journey.

Classroom of the Elite was something I got into during high school—one of my favorite light novels. For a long time, I'd chase each new volume as it came out, discussing it with classmates. It's a fond memory from my youth.

Not long ago, when I decided to write a new book on this theme, I reread the original work and found the character designs excellent. Friends who knew it well would chat with me about it, and I realized the logic behind the interactions between story and characters was actually very clear—the early and middle parts were truly brilliant.

But personally, I felt the school's function wasn't well demonstrated. The classroom didn't teach students much, and the whole school lacked a [progression line] and sufficient [room for growth]. This also ties into my own feelings from years of schooling.

Ability? What is ability?

Innate talent, background, or connections?

None of these are actually the most important.

The most important thing is a person's solitary journey of growth and experience.

And so, the idea for this book was born.

Before arriving at this idea, I initially considered following the original route, writing in a light, fast-paced style. That wouldn't have been hard.

With the experience from my first book, a fast pace could probably hold steady until a million words without collapsing.

But I couldn't guarantee what would happen after that.

I thought for a long time and ultimately chose this path.

Because if I'm going to write, this time, I want to finish a book from start to finish—one that brings everyone a different kind of enjoyment, growing more exciting as it goes on.

To that end, I finished the first volume, spent a week editing and revising, completed the plot outline for all three semesters of the first year, along with related settings for the second and third years, before I started publishing.

The three-semester main arcs will be long, with themes as follows:

First Semester: [Ocean and Trade]

Second Semester: [Sports Festival, Arena, and Empire]

Third Semester: [Reasoning and God]

As for results, I had expectations before starting—it would definitely fall short of my last book, but this one's goal isn't results.

I write to bring everyone some enjoyment—that's my original intention. So during the free period, I mostly posted six to seven thousand words, with a max of nine thousand in a day. Since the pacing was already slow, I figured I should increase the updates to make the reading experience a bit better for everyone.

This was the same with my last book—I updated pretty quickly during the free period, and the on-shelf challenges were mostly overfulfilled.

But saying all this, I can't claim I'll definitely never drop it or that I'll finish all three years.

I can only promise the first year's three semesters—the plot outlined for roughly fourteen volumes and two million words—will be completed.

As for what comes after, that depends on this book's results at that time.

Haha, I'm actually confident it can gradually pick up.

But I'll leave that for you to judge.
