Black Zetsu's hands clamped tightly onto Obito's head. Black matter seeped from his fingertips into Obito's scalp, like countless tiny snakes burrowing into his skull. Obito's body trembled violently. His hands remained locked in the Snake hand seal before his chest, his knuckles white from the strain, but his fingers no longer belonged to him—Black Zetsu had taken over his body, his Chakra, everything he had.
In Obito's pupils was reflected the pale violet curtain of light slowly descending from the sky. His lips moved, but no sound came out. The shape of his mouth formed the last few words of a sentence.
"...It's not supposed to be like this..."
Milky-white light surged from between his palms. It did not spread in all directions; instead, it formed a white beam compressed to the absolute limit, piercing through smoke, rubble, and the ash and debris drifting through the air. At a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow, it shot toward one direction—Madara.
Hashirama's Wood Golem was pinning Madara's Susanoo to the ground. The golem's enormous hand pressed hard against Susanoo's head, and blinding light burst where wooden fibers collided with purple Chakra. Madara stood atop Susanoo's head, the white hair of his Impure World Reincarnation body whipping wildly in the wind. His hands formed a complex seal before his chest, and there was not a ripple in his Rinnegan.
Then he sensed something.
That milky-white beam shot in from afar. There was no sound, no warning of Chakra fluctuations. It simply, irresistibly, struck Madara squarely in the back like a mechanism that had been set in motion long ago.
Madara's body suddenly stiffened.
It was not pain, but a numbing sensation like an electric current spreading upward from the base of his spine. That force seeped into his
