Background and History

Sasuke is Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha’s younger son and Itachi’s younger brother. As a child, he admired Itachi and trained in hopes of becoming strong enough to help him, while remaining largely unaware of the conflict between the Uchiha clan and Konoha 350 356 358.

During the clan massacre, Sasuke found Mikoto dead and saw a blood-covered Itachi approach him with a kunai. Itachi spared him, told him to hate him and survive, then left. The shock awakened Sasuke’s Sharingan. At the hospital, Sasuke learned that Itachi had been named the killer and vowed to find him, demand an explanation, and kill him 390 391 392.

Sasuke became an exceptionally skilled but isolated Academy student. Root subjected him to years of intensive training; by the time he joined Naruto and Sakura on Kakashi’s Team 7, Fuma Sayo assessed his combat ability as above that of most Chunin, while warning that revenge dominated his life 476 491 494 495.

Sasuke later left Konoha to seek power from Orochimaru, despite acknowledging Naruto as his best friend 547 549. After three years, he killed Orochimaru, formed Hebi with Karin, Jugo, and Suigetsu, and fought Itachi. Itachi died after their battle, leaving Sasuke shaken by his final affectionate gesture 579. Learning that Konoha’s leadership had ordered the massacre redirected Sasuke’s hatred toward Danzō and the village 580 605. After defeating Danzō, he chose to stop pursuing Konoha’s other leaders and walk his own path 608.

Appearance

As he grew older, Sasuke lost the roundness of his childhood features; his black eyes were described as deep and cold 491. On his return to the wartime battlefield, he had shoulder-length black hair and wore a high collar, with the Kusanagi Sword at his waist 680.

Personality

Sasuke’s grief initially becomes relentless training, emotional withdrawal, and a fixation on killing Itachi. Even as his abilities grow, observers close to him worry that Root’s training is deepening his emptiness rather than helping him recover 476 491 495.

His bond with Naruto persists beneath their rivalry: Sasuke calls him his best friend even while trying to sever that connection 549. After learning the truth about Itachi, Sasuke rejects the future his brother intended for him. He eventually abandons his pursuit of Konoha’s remaining leaders and later fights beside his former teammates 598 608 680.

Sharingan and Rinnegan

• The Sharingan aids Sasuke’s perception and combat reactions; he uses it to read chakra flow in the God Tree’s roots 698.
• His Mangekyō grants access to Amaterasu, whose flames force the Raikage to sever his burning arm 595.
