Fifteen days was rather a long time.
Wang Ya's gaze fell on the unfinished supernatural books on the shelf.
Ancient Forest Mountain would cease to exist from now on. Leaving this Basic Supernatural Knowledge here was truly too wasteful.
He decisively placed the books whose contents he had yet to master into the Silver Bracelet.
The books on the shelves in Moxi Bailin's study were generally much the same as his own; there were no additional Supernatural Wizard Books. Otherwise, Wang Ya might have entertained the idea of visiting every Wizard Freshman's study for a look.
The mist was both real and illusory. Through it, he vaguely saw the outline of a building. A figure in a black Wizard Robe stood at the entrance, triggering the internal wizardry array's sensors. Very soon, someone emerged from within, his face full of confusion.
"Who are you? What do you want with me?"
Wang Ya said nothing. He looked at him with indifferent eyes, raised his right hand, and injected Particle Energy into the Shadow Blade of Assassination he held. The blade instantly extended to a meter in length.
No matter how dull this Wizard Freshman was, he sensed that something was wrong. Terror filled his face as he turned and ran back, but the sharp blade pierced his chest and ran through his heart.
Thud!
His body crashed heavily to the ground, blood flowing out beneath him. He raised his head slightly and looked toward his residence, laboriously lifting his right hand as though trying to grasp something. That unwillingness accompanied the fading of his life force, but in the end, his hand still fell.
Wang Ya pulled out the Shadow Blade of Assassination and numbly took out a piece of white cloth to wipe away the blood. He was exhausted—not physically, but mentally.
One living life after another was being snuffed out by his own hands. The instinctive discomfort in his body only made him grow more silent the more people he killed. Especially since quite a few Wizard Freshmen bore him no deep-seated grudge at all, a sense of confusion gradually arose within him.
In the end, he still emerged from it. Never had the hand gripping his blade been so resolute. Every place was like this: the weak had no way to control their own fate. The only way to change that was to become strong himself and decide the fate of others.
He could not refuse Wizard Yis. He could only do what the other man believed needed to be done.
His opinions, his views, his thoughts—they were not important. He was merely an executor.
Wizard Yis could bear the price of all this. Wang Ya could not bear the price of refusing Wizard Yis.
Only strength—strength great enough to bear every price. The price of pursuing truth was likewise something borne as a wizard constantly grew stronger.
It was over!
Wang Ya crossed off the final name on the list.
In two days, he had killed all the freshmen from Wizard Families, as well as more than one hundred and thirty freshmen from the Island Continent. Most of them had not even noticed what was happening yet. Thanks to the environment of Ancient Forest Mountain, the Freshman Residences were spread far apart, and every one of Wang Ya's kills had been a single fatal strike.
Even if they saw the corpses, those freshmen would only become more terrified, believing the murders had worsened further. They simply did not dare leave their residences or communicate with others. They hid in their Freshman Residences, not even daring to visit the Automated Restaurant.
After returning to his residence, Wang Ya first went to the washroom and cleaned his hands. The youth in the mirror wore an indifferent, numb expression. His black-apricot eyes beside his tear mole carried a cold disregard for life, and something new, invisible and intangible, had spread from them.
Killing intent that sent chills down one's spine.
After roughly three minutes, Wang Ya emerged from that state, his gaze returning to calm rationality.
He lay spread-eagled on the bed, staring at the wooden ceiling. Next, all he could do was wait for Wizard Yis's further instructions.
Ancient Forest Mountain... So this was what a wizard was!
Determination filled his eyes. He had long possessed such resolve.
His eyelids slowly closed, and he entered his deepest sleep.
At the top of Ancient Forest Tower.
Inside the management office, Wizard Yis sat in his chair, still holding that Metal Mechanical Device, its displayed image before him.
The scene showed everything Wang Ya had done. Even his battle with Moxi had been under Wizard Yis's observation.
When he saw Wang Ya kill Moxi with such decisiveness, the corner of his lips curved upward. "Schemes, temperament, combat talent—none of them are bad. Who would have thought that among this batch of Island Continent freshmen, such a good seedling would appear?"
"How interesting. Those freshmen from the inland Wizard Families all have their eyes pointed at the sky. Relying on their resources and the families behind them, they even select so-called Genius Freshmen. I truly wonder what would happen if they encountered this little fellow."
As for the Low-level Wizardry on Wang Ya's person, he did not care. Everyone had their own opportunities.
The Metal Mechanical Device gradually transformed, reassembling into the shape of a Magic Cube before being tucked into Wizard Yis's sleeve.
He rose to his feet, the expression on his face becoming utterly indifferent. His imposing aura filled the entire room.
From the shadows of the room, Wizard Fengxing and Wizard Lando emerged, their faces likewise carrying murderous intent.
"The evidence has been gathered. Wizard Gandhi betrayed The Umbral Expanse, while the Bailin Family and the Purple Gold Flower Family violated the rules."
Wizard Yis's eyes were icy. "The mission message from The Umbral Expanse says: let us handle it as we see fit, so long as we do not affect too many uninvolved people."
"My decision is... there is no longer any need for the Bailin Family and the Purple Gold Flower Family to exist."
Wizard Fengxing was stunned by Wizard Yis's ruthlessness and blurted out, "Isn't that a little too extreme? Those people from The Umbral Expanse may target you, Senior Brother."
"Rules are rules. There is no reason for the vast majority of us to follow them while those Wizard Family people get special treatment—and even create something this vile."
Wizard Yis said without concern, "If they want to cause me trouble, let them come. In the Battle Arena, I do not mind killing a few more pieces of trash from Wizard Families."
"Too many wizards from Wizard Families have violated the rules. They need a lesson written in blood, so they understand that some things cannot be touched."
His tone was utterly resolute. The two said nothing further, knowing they could not change his mind.
"Wizard Gandhi is still in the Bailin Family. Tonight is perfect—we'll deal with him as well," Wizard Yis added. "You two go to the Purple Gold Flower Family. If you cannot handle it, wait for me awhile."
Wizard Lando said with a grin, "That works. Senior Brother Yis, I have complete faith in your strength. Taking care of a Bailin Family will take half an hour at most. I'll wait for you to come and display your great might."
Wizard Fengxing: "."
He had every reason to suspect that Wizard Lando's strength as a Third-level Wizard Apprentice had been watered down considerably.
Just how had he gotten into the Water Marsh School?! Chief Wizard Saiya of the Water Marsh School was so old-fashioned and rigid—he didn't seem like someone who would let people in through the back door.
Wizard Yis ignored the two of them, turned around, and gradually walked into the void, vanishing from the office.
Wizard Lando clicked his tongue. "No matter how many times I see it, Wizard Yis's method is still utterly absurd. He chose the spatial path of wizardry, unlike most people from the White Bone School, but it looks like he's truly carved out a path for himself."
Wizard Fengxing nodded. "Yeah. Senior Brother Yis might even have a chance to advance to a Formal Wizard."
"Good heavens! The Title Ranking List is going to gain another name."
"Senior Brother Yis probably doesn't care about such empty fame. It was nothing more than something those Wizard Family people maliciously arranged to stir up conflict."
As the last sliver of sunlight vanished and night descended, Ancient Forest Wizard City remained ablaze with lights. Wizard Technology had been applied in many areas, including street lighting and exterior building decorations, all adorned with colored lights powered by Magic Stones.
In the far east of Ancient Forest Wizard City, there were fewer pedestrians, while the buildings stood grim and towering. It had even been built into a city within a city, with the two words "Bailin" engraved at its entrance.
A figure in a brown Wizard Robe stepped out of the void and stood above the Bailin Family. The cold wind stirred his purple hair as he raised his right hand, and the metal device emerged.
