Thorn Sea Beast, the Killing Begins
Faint rosy clouds hung low, their shimmering reflections rippling across the sea, while sea beasts surfaced and dove amid the waves. The evening glow at dusk truly possessed a praiseworthy charm!!
But the sky began to darken.
Not darkness in the conventional sense, but darkness influenced by intense Particle Energy Fluctuation.
Wang Ya emerged from his Meditation state, a flash of alarm passing through his eyes. Particle energy that completely crushed his own—someone was casting witchcraft.
Outside the window, darkness like viscous black mud devoured the light, spreading from the depths of the sea and engulfing the area around the Wizard Ship.
Wang Ya's pupils constricted. Even the hundred-meter safe zone had been swallowed.
"Caw, caw, caw!" Harak let out a trembling cry in the room, instinctive wariness visible in his blood-red pupils.
Through the Consciousness Imprint, Wang Ya knew that he had sensed the threat within the darkness. Among Ordinary Creatures, it was probably like a cat puffing up its fur or a dog baring its teeth—a natural reaction.
Wang Ya sealed all the doors and windows, then barricaded them with every heavy object in the room.
On the boundless Endless Sea, nowhere could truly be called safe.
Staying inside the room at least allowed him to make use of the confined space, giving him more possibilities.
Wang Ya glanced at the round window. At worst, if there was no other way, he could grab some food and have Harak carry him out through the air.
When he had first chosen Harak for cultivation, this had been one of his considerations—to make up for his lack of mobility.
Relying entirely on others to determine whether he lived or died was extremely foolish.
He stroked the back of Harak's neck, soothing his somewhat agitated state. Wang Ya's gaze was deep and shadowed. Mastering Supernatural Power was his greatest source of confidence.
Strength would never deceive or betray him.
"Those two idiots seem to be staying on this floor."
Arthur wore a brilliant smile. If Rowena had not suddenly mentioned them, he would probably have forgotten they even existed.
After all, why would someone as noble as him have room in his memory for two lowly freshmen?
"Thanks to you, Rowena. I remember they collected at least half a month's worth of food that day, perhaps even more. With that, we can hold out much longer."
Orson happily patted Rowena on the shoulder, though the latter's smile was far less natural.
He even felt awkward. He had merely remembered it and mentioned it casually; he had never truly intended to take their food. At least, that was what Rowena believed.
The few people in the ship's corridor suddenly stopped in their tracks. They exchanged glances, terror on their faces. There was no mistaking it just now—a Particle Energy Fluctuation, powerful beyond belief, as deep and unfathomable as an abyss.
At some point, the corridor lights had begun flickering on and off. Farther ahead, everything had already been shrouded in darkness, like the gaping maw of some dark beast, sending chills down their spines.
"What's going on? And that fluctuation just now..." Rowena's mouth fell open.
Arthur and Orson said nothing. Their eyes remained fixed on the darkness. As if it were alive, it slowly spread toward them.
A strange, oppressive atmosphere filled the air, and they unconsciously held their breath.
Drip!
Arthur touched his cheek, and his pupils immediately shrank. It was glaring scarlet blood!
A salty, damp sea breeze blew from the far end of the corridor, whipping the three people's hair into disarray and sending their robes billowing behind them. They instinctively took a step back.
A heavy stench of blood spread with the wind. At the same time, a grotesque human head rolled out of the darkness.
They nearly suffocated. It was a Wizard Freshman, and the wounds on the head looked as though something had bitten it off.
Overwhelming fear made their legs tremble, leaving them unable even to react.
Damn it!!
What the hell was happening?
Drip!
A limb covered in seaweed and mud stepped out. It was covered in black scales, with seawater and blood dripping from them. When its entire body emerged from the darkness, its massive frame filled the entire corridor, horrifying them beyond measure.
An amphibious creature of the Endless Sea—the Thorn Sea Beast. Its entire body was covered in scales that swords and blades could scarcely harm, as well as thorn-like bone spurs.
Yet the Thorn Sea Beast before them was two to three times the size of an ordinary Thorn Sea Beast, and its scales were no longer their original bluish-green.
Most importantly, they could actually sense supernatural fluctuations from the Thorn Sea Beast.
The sea charts clearly recorded that Thorn Sea Beasts were merely Ordinary Creatures.
"This is damned insane." Orson stiffly stared at another Thorn Sea Beast that had appeared behind him.
A door not far ahead was violently smashed open. A Wizard Freshman was dragged out by a Thorn Sea Beast, which bit through his neck and began devouring him with great relish.
It was as if this triggered a chain reaction. Door after door was broken open, and the sounds of more Thorn Sea Beasts emerged. Their low growls made the scalps of the three still standing in the corridor go numb.
One could imagine that the same thing was likely happening on every floor.
Finding food was no longer the issue. The question was how to survive. A Thorn Sea Beast blocked the path behind them, while more Thorn Sea Beasts emerged one after another in front of them.
A fierce look flashed in Arthur's eyes. Without the slightest hesitation, he kicked Rowena toward the front, then violently shoved Orson backward.
"Arthur, you bastard—"
"Brother Arthur, why are you doing this?"
The two, thrown off balance by Arthur's force, inevitably fell toward the Thorn Sea Beasts, staring at Arthur in disbelief.
"I want to live. I have the greatest talent and the highest status. Your deaths can let me live. It should be, it is an honor."
Arthur rushed toward Orson at the same time, intending to take the opportunity to escape while the Thorn Sea Beast attacked Orson.
"Ah!"
A shrill scream echoed throughout the ship's cabin, followed by even more screams. Wang Ya's face darkened in the room. He had noticed the disturbances.
So far, there had been at least twelve screams.
That meant at least twelve Wizard Freshmen had died.
For the moment, he did not know what was attacking the freshmen inside the ship, but the room was temporarily safe.
Harak's eyes showed wariness. His wings lifted as he stared toward the door.
Wang Ya frowned. Something was coming.
He gripped a Dagger in his hand and hid in the shadow behind the door, his gaze cold.
