Background / History
Tang Hao was the Clear Sky Sect’s greatest prodigy and former heir. He and Tang Xiao initially received one heirloom soul bone each; before their training journey, the sect entrusted Tang Hao with its third and strongest heirloom bone, marking him as the intended next sect master 44 166.
Ah Yin’s sacrifice gave him a hundred-thousand-year soul ring. Shortly after entering the Title Douluo realm, he fought Martial Soul Hall experts for three days and nights, killing one Title Douluo and severely injuring the former Pope and another Title Douluo 146 212.
After losing Ah Yin, Tang Hao withdrew rather than return to the sect. He intended to spend his remaining life in a remote village, burdened by the trouble he had brought upon his clansmen and his failure to avenge her. Tang San’s awakening of twin martial souls renewed his hope 122.
He later admits that grief left him unable to care properly for the young Tang San, forcing his son to become self-reliant 211.
Appearance
Tang Hao’s recovered appearance contrasts sharply with his earlier decadence: he wears simple cloth garments and has heavily developed muscles, stiff short hair, and a fierce gaze 209.
- Short, upright hair — described as standing like steel needles 209.
- Powerful physique — his bulging muscles are compared to small hills 209.
- Concealing clothing — wears black robes during his Heaven Dou City ambush 104.
- Asura transformation — his hair and eyes turn dark red, while his manifested power stains the sky blood-red 212 214.
Personality
Tang Hao is deeply invested in Tang San’s survival and development. He follows his son secretly, investigates the people around him, and personally takes over his physical training when conventional cultivation appears insufficient. He remains steadfast in defending Tang San when Ah Yin accuses their son of being possessed 79 211.
His protectiveness extends into lethal hostility toward perceived rivals. After witnessing Tie Xiong defeat Tang San, he considers killing Tie Xiong but postpones the attack because the investigation could expose his son’s identity. His restraint is tactical rather than a rejection of assassination 79.
Tang Hao can also recognize his own failures. He acknowledges bringing further trouble upon the Clear Sky Sect and accepts Tang Xiao’s direction. Repeated defeats force him to reassess Tie Xiong’s strength and unsettling knowledge of their family’s secrets 123 172.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer and Hammer Mastery
- Wields a powerful weapon martial soul with soul skills supporting both offense and defense 167.
- Masters the Clear Sky Nine Absolutes and Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Tie Xiong judges his hammer technique to be exquisite and without exploitable flaws during their battle 165 166 213.
- Uses Weapon Soul Avatar and unity of man and weapon to concentrate his greatest hammer power 213.
- His gravity-related soul-ring ability is inferred by Tie Xiong when Earth Domain’s gravity control fails to affect him 165.
- Possesses nine soul rings; the ninth is Ah Yin’s red hundred-thousand-year ring 129 212.
Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Detonation
The Great Sumeru Hammer concentrates soul-ring power into the Clear Sky Hammer; Ring Detonation releases additional power by detonating the rings 201 213.
- Tang Hao states that the Great Sumeru Hammer is inherited by only one person per generation and that he is its sole practitioner in the contemporary Clear Sky Sect 213.
- Can retain detonated-ring energy within his body and hammer to sustain combat and reduce strain on injured meridians and bones 166.
- Detonates his first six rings together against Tie Xiong, then commits his seventh, eighth, and ninth rings to a final attack 213 215.
- After detonating all nine rings, reserves only enough soul power to escape with Tang San 216.
Slaughter God’s Domain and Asura Manifestation
- Slaughter God’s Domain neutralizes the oppressive effects of Tie Xiong’s Earth Domain during their earlier confrontation 165.
- Later uses the Asura Domain to form a dark-red divine phantom 213.
- Asura Manifestation adds a god-level mental component to his hammer strike, disrupting Tie Xiong’s mental energy 214.
- In his final battle, the phantom carries a trace of the Asura God’s will. Its enhanced manifestation burns both divine power and Tang Hao’s transformed bloodline essence to empower Weapon Soul Avatar 293.
Bear Soul Rage
Granted by his eighty-thousand-year Vajra Bear left-leg soul bone, this skill merges the enraged bear’s soul into his body 166.
- Enhances both strength and defense 166.
- Its amplification depends on the soul power supplied; channeling detonated-ring energy produces a 50% boost 166.
- Becomes unavailable to Tang Hao when Tie Xiong severs his left leg and takes the bone 216.
Cultivation Instruction and Forging
- Teaches Tang San waterfall-based Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer training while suppressing his soul power 79 113.
- Applies a Clear Sky Sect method that strengthens meridians and tempers body and mind. It can be used only once in a lifetime and takes approximately a year 79.
- His early use of this method enables Tang San to absorb a six-thousand-year third soul ring and reach level 37 immediately afterward 112.
- Receives Tang San’s hidden-weapon knowledge. Tang San believes his father’s divine-blacksmith expertise could eventually produce the Peacock Plume, Pear Blossom Needle in Rainstorm, and Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus; they have not yet forged those weapons at that point 215.
Equipment / Items
- Vajra Bear left-leg soul bone — an eighty-thousand-year Clear Sky Sect heirloom and the source of Bear Soul Rage. Taken by Tie Xiong after Tang Hao loses his left leg 166 216.
- Ah Yin’s hundred-thousand-year soul bone — hidden with her surviving Blue Silver Emperor form behind a waterfall. Tang Hao intends it for Tang San, but Tie Xiong steals it before he can retrieve it 104 122 123.
- Other heirloom soul bone — received before the sect entrusted him with the Vajra Bear bone; its location and abilities are not specified in the supplied passages 166.
Relationships
- Tang San — son and principal disciple. Tang Hao protects him, directs his cultivation, and coordinates their attacks telepathically 79 215 216.
- Ah Yin — wife and source of his ninth soul ring. Her disappearance devastates him; their reunion becomes a confrontation after she sides with Tie Xiong and rejects Tang San 123 210 211.
- Tang Xiao — elder brother. Offers protection and strategic support while criticizing Tang Hao’s impulsive attacks 122 123.
- Tang Yuehua — younger sister. Her death during Tie Xiong’s assault on Clear Sky Castle contributes to Tang Hao’s grief and rage 224 225.
- Titan — devoted subordinate who attempts to recruit Tie Xiong on Tang Hao’s behalf and later serves him in Star Luo City 44 225.
- Bai He — uncle and former subordinate. Tang Hao is distressed to encounter him among the forces obstructing his palace infiltration 92.
- Yu Xiaogang — collaborator in Tang San’s education. Their discussion leads to Tang Hao beginning his son’s special training early 79.
- Tie Xiong — rival and repeated assassination target. Their conflict escalates into disabling injuries, family estrangement, and attacks upon the Clear Sky Sect 79 216 224.
- Dai Mubai — accompanies Tang Hao’s group to Slaughter City; later receives his advice to return to Star Luo and participate in imperial affairs 171 209.
- Asura God — deity behind his trials. Provides direct support through the Asura phantom during Tang Hao’s final battle 199 293.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Shrek Academy and Early Training
Tang Hao watches Tang San’s defeat by Tie Xiong from concealment. He recognizes Tie Xiong’s talent, considers assassination, and instead first arranges accelerated training for his son. The next day, he reveals his status as a powerful soul master and takes Tang San away 79 80.
Heaven Dou City Assassinations
His first pursuit takes him through Heaven Dou Royal Academy and Blue Tyrant Academy to the imperial palace. Bone Douluo detects him, and intervention by other defenders prevents him from reaching Tie Xiong 92.
Later, Tang Hao waits in the city for Tie Xiong’s return and attacks him in the street. He uses the hammer handle to conceal his martial soul, but three strikes fail to kill his target. He withdraws as powerful reinforcements approach; Ning Fengzhi nevertheless deduces his identity 104 105 106 122.
Clear Sky Sect Escalation
Tang Hao returns to the waterfall and discovers Ah Yin and her soul bone missing. He kills people at nearby Martial Soul Hall branches while venting his fury, then accepts Tang Xiao’s plan to eliminate Tie Xiong and Dugu Bo 123.
During the subsequent battle, he uses Ring Detonation defensively to avoid aggravating his old wounds. The prolonged confrontation still triggers those injuries, and he later admits that neither he nor Tang Xiao can currently defeat Tie Xiong 166 172.
Blue Silver Forest Defeat
Restored by the Asura trials, Tang Hao brings Tang San to the Blue Silver Forest for another martial-soul awakening. Instead, they encounter Ah Yin living with Tie Xiong. Tang Hao fights Tie Xiong while Ah Yin strips Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 209 210 212.
Tang Hao detonates all nine rings and coordinates his attack with Tang San’s Bodhi Blood. They escape, but Tie Xiong severs Tang Hao’s left leg and takes its soul bone. Tang Hao subsequently redirects Tang San toward cultivating the Clear Sky Hammer 215 216 217.
Sect Catastrophe and Final Battle
Tang Hao is absent when Tie Xiong attacks Clear Sky Castle. News of the castle’s destruction and Tang Yuehua’s death reaches him in Star Luo City, provoking intense grief and anger 222 224 225.
After completing the fifth Asura trial, he confronts Tie Xiong again at level 97 with his left-leg injury healed. He invokes the Asura God’s assistance and burns his divine power and transformed bloodline in the ensuing battle, which ends in his death 291 293.
