Wentworth looked toward the Slytherin table and saw Cassandra sitting there expressionlessly, sipping pumpkin soup one mouthful at a time. Her eyes were red and swollen, though. Clearly, she hadn't slept well the night before.

The Slytherins who had originally been seated around Cassandra had all drifted away. Some were gathered around other students, engrossed in the Daily Prophet, while others stood together, pointing and whispering in Cassandra's direction.

But Cassandra didn't react to any of the changes around her.

Seeing this, Wentworth could only sigh inwardly before turning his attention to the copy of the Daily Prophet in his hands.

According to the report, Thomas Levo, head of the Auror Office at the British Ministry of Magic, had gone out on a mission yesterday morning. He had led two Aurors in pursuit of a group of wizards who had entered the country illegally, but had never returned. The British Ministry of Magic then dispatched a large number of Aurors to search for traces of Thomas Levo.

In a valley somewhere, the Aurors had found the bodies of the two Aurors. There were also numerous signs of a battle involving Dark Magic. At the scene, the Aurors had found Thomas Levo's broken wand and torn clothing, so the British Ministry of Magic had made an initial assessment: Thomas Levo had likely been ambushed while pursuing the suspects.

The British Ministry of Magic had provisionally concluded that Thomas Levo, head of the Auror Office under the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, had likely died in the line of duty. The Ministry had decided to appoint Rufus Scrimgeour as acting head of the Auror Office.

By this point, everything was clear. Dumbledore had called Cassandra away from class yesterday because of this. He had clearly learned what had happened ahead of time.
