Background / History
Frieren was trained by Flamme, the progenitor of human magic. She later traveled with the Hero Party, which defeated the Demon King; after the party dispersed, she spent decades traveling alone. Himmel died, Heiter grew old, and the dwarf companion withdrew from the world, leaving Frieren as the only one still wandering freely. 14 22 50
Her longevity has made human customs and partings difficult for her to grasp. Shane recognizes that she has repeatedly lost people important to her—her kin, mentor, and companions—and encourages her to express her feelings before it is too late. 14
Frieren meets Shane after he rescues her from a Mimic and becomes trapped with her in a mine rich in Magic-Sealing Ore. She initially relies on him for protection while unable to cast magic, then accepts his proposal to form a party after he offers travel funds, desserts, and fine wine. 3 4 14
Appearance
Frieren is a petite white-haired elf, short enough that she does not reach Shane's shoulder. She commonly wears her hair in twin-tails and carries a staff. 3 9
- White hair and twin-tails 9 13
- Petite build 3 32
- Elven ears 3
- Usually seen with a staff and one or more grimoires 3 22
- Often bundles herself in blankets when cold 3 37
Personality
Frieren is calm and analytical in dangerous situations, often assessing monsters, magical phenomena, dungeon mechanisms, and historical ruins without panicking. Her composure can appear detached, particularly when she gives blunt answers or prioritizes an unusual magical curiosity over immediate practicality. 3 6 16 39
She is deeply interested in magic, grimoires, Magic Tools, rare magical creatures, and treasures. This enthusiasm sometimes leads her into trouble, most notably when Mimics catch her off guard. 22 25 36 39
Despite her aloofness, Frieren values reliable companionship. She praises Shane as brave and resourceful, grows concerned for his safety during fights, and eventually admits through her actions that she enjoys traveling with a teammate after centuries alone. 19 22 43 50
