Background

Gunko was the purest-blooded prodigy of the Manmaiya Family. Imu noticed her six years before the Manmaiya Family's search for a Devil Fruit and recruited her as a maid and personal attendant. Her Shallow Sea Mark allowed her to communicate with Imu through thought, while her position as a divine attendant blade gave her a path toward becoming a Holy Knight. 220

Saint Manmaiya Fusi sought a powerful Devil Fruit for her in hopes that Gunko could preserve the family's influence among the Celestial Dragons, potentially becoming a Holy Knight, its commander, or even one of the Five Elders. 220

Appearance

Gunko normally has a petite human form, heterochromatic eyes, and a composed, indifferent expression. After assuming command of the Holy Knights, she wears a dignified commander's uniform. 317

Gunko is pragmatic and strategically minded. When Imu allowed her to choose an ability, she prioritized the Eagle Vedfolnir Fruit because flight would improve her mobility and make missions easier when Imu was not possessing her. 316

As commander, she was calm under challenge and openly indifferent to the resentment of the other Holy Knights. She asserted her authority without hesitation, even against Saint Sommers. 317

After prolonged possession and manipulation by Imu, Gunko's memories became fragmented. Even while imprisoned, she remained broadly loyal to Imu and wished to return to Him, though she was increasingly confused by recovered memories. Rise to Holy Knights Commander

After Imu's humiliation by Kozuki Houka, Gunko received the sixth Abyss Mark and the Eagle Vedfolnir Fruit. Imu then installed her as commander of the Holy Knights and assigned her force to prevent the Rocks Pirates from securing Pluton. 316 317

War for Pluton

Gunko fought in Eagle Vedfolnir form against the Pluton force and its giant defenders. Her withering-wind attack targeted Pluton's main cannon, but the giants' combined offensive destroyed her enormous form. 335

During the battle, she exercised command over Fleet Admiral Kukulkan, ordering him to keep attacking Nidhogg rather than rescue Saint Snowbuster. 342

Memory Instability and Capture

Houka triggered fragments of Gunko's suppressed memories by calling her “Princess Shuri” and mentioning Brook. Imu immediately reasserted control over her mind. 381

At Elbaf, Houka ambushed Gunko in Eagle Vedfolnir form. With Linlin and Brook attacking her soul and memories, he severed her connection to Imu and imprisoned her in the Lost World with a one-hundred-percent Seastone device. 412

Liberation from Imu

While confined, Gunko remained confused and initially retained loyalty to Imu. 491
