Yue Mei unfurled her Dou Qi Wings and shot into the sky. Hovering above the ground, she glanced back at the Great Elder's corpse and gritted her teeth.

Yue Mei looked away and was about to speed off when a figure suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Let you go."

Xiao Chen replied.

"Then why are you blocking me?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to say something to you."

Yue Mei gave a cold laugh. "What? Are you begging me not to tell Her Majesty the Queen?"

Xiao Chen shook his head.

"Then what do you want to say?"

Yue Mei asked.

Xiao Chen didn't answer. He walked toward her, and Yue Mei took another step back, but she was no match for Xiao Chen's speed.

Xiao Chen stopped in front of her and reached out to grasp her chin. Yue Mei's pupils contracted sharply.

"You..."

Before she could finish, Xiao Chen kissed her.

Yue Mei froze. Her mind went blank, and she couldn't process what had just happened.

Xiao Chen stepped back and looked at her. "All right, you can go now."

Yue Mei's face flushed red, from her cheeks to her ears, then down to her neck. Her body trembled, and so did her lips.

"You... you bastard."

Xiao Chen looked at her. "Anything else?"

Yue Mei took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "Xiao Chen, just you wait."

She turned and flew away without looking back.

Xiao Chen watched her retreating figure, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.

As Yue Mei flew over the desert, she touched the spot Xiao Chen had kissed. That was twice now. That human had kissed her twice.

A jumble of emotions surged through Yue Mei: anger and shame.

She shook her head, clearing those chaotic thoughts from her mind. No matter what, Xiao Chen had to die.

He had killed a member of the Snake-People Tribe, injured her, and humiliated her twice. She would settle this score.

Yue Mei sped up, flying toward the Snake-People Empire.

Inside the great hall of the Snake-People Empire, Queen Medusa sat on her throne with a cup of wine in her hand.

Several elders sat on either side, discussing matters of the tribe. The Great Elder had taken men to kill that human, but still hadn't returned.

"I wonder how things are going with the Great Elder."

The Second Elder spoke.

"It should be over soon."

The Third Elder replied. "The Great Elder is a Dou Wang, and he has more than a dozen elite Dou Lings with him. Killing a human boy should be as easy as lifting a hand."

The Second Elder nodded, finding this reasonable.

Queen Medusa said nothing, only drinking her wine. She wasn't very interested in the matter. What trouble could a human boy possibly cause?

Just then, Yue Mei entered from outside. Her face looked grim, and her steps were unsteady.

"Yue Mei, you're back."

The Second Elder spoke. "Where's the Great Elder?"

"The human killed the Great Elder."

Yue Mei replied.

The elders drew in sharp breaths. There were only a handful of Dou Huang experts in the entire Jia Ma Empire. How could a Dou Huang expert only fifteen or sixteen years old be possible?

Yue Mei hesitated.

"And what?"

Queen Medusa asked.

"Before he killed the Great Elder, he cut off his tail."

"Where is that human now?"

Queen Medusa asked.

Yue Mei replied.

Queen Medusa rose to her feet, her face expressionless. But those who knew her understood this was a sign that her anger was about to erupt.

"Your Majesty, let me take some men and go."

The Second Elder stood up.

"No need."

Queen Medusa said. "I'll go myself."

The elders were all stunned. Queen Medusa was going to act personally? It had been several years since she'd taken the field herself, not since she'd become a Peak Dou Emperor.

"Anyone who dares to kill the Great Elder of my Snake-People Tribe, I will kill with my own hands."

Queen Medusa declared.

Xiao Ding spoke, worry on his face. "Queen Medusa is a Peak Dou Emperor. She's far stronger than you."

"I know."

Xiao Chen replied.

"Then why don't you hurry up and leave?"

Xiao Li said. "Get out of Shimo City before she arrives."

Xiao Chen shook his head. "I'm not leaving."

"Why?"

Xiao Ding asked.

"What will happen to you if I leave?"

Xiao Chen replied.

Xiao Ding froze for a moment.

"If Medusa can't find me, you'll be in danger."

Xiao Chen said. "I can't drag you into this."

"We're members of the Xiao Clan. Don't talk about dragging us into anything."

Xiao Li replied.

"Exactly."

Xiao Ding added. "Don't worry about us. We'll figure something out."

Xiao Chen looked at them, feeling touched. His two older cousins really were loyal.

"Enough. I'm not leaving."

Xiao Chen stood up. "If Medusa comes, I'll deal with her."

Xiao Ding wanted to say more, but seeing how determined Xiao Chen was, he swallowed the words.

"Then be careful."

Xiao Ding said.

Xiao Chen nodded and turned to leave the hall.

Xiao Li sat in his chair, staring at Xiao Chen's back. For a long time, he said nothing.

"Big brother, do you think Xiao Chen can beat Queen Medusa?"

Xiao Ding shook his head. "Hard to say."

"She's a Peak Dou Emperor."

Xiao Li fell silent for a moment, then nodded. But then again, Xiao Chen had reached Seven-Star Dou Huang at such a young age and had effortlessly killed a Five-Star Dou Wang.
