Su Zhe couldn't even be bothered to defend; his shoulder blades rippled, and massive black-red wings unfurled, colliding with the warrior's blade with a metallic "Clang!"

In less than two seconds, the brute's flesh and blood were completely consumed by Su Zhe. Even his clothing, armor, and that shield were devoured along with him, leaving not a trace of bone behind!

The captain's expression was grim and uncertain. He knew that whatever he said now was too late; they had stumbled upon Su Zhe's secret, and there was no way they would leave this place alive.

He had no choice but to fight! He would have to fight Su Zhe to the death!

Su Zhe's icy gaze swept toward the last remaining warrior-level martial artist.

Su Zhe looked up at the captain, a harmless smile on his face, but to the captain, it was no different from a devil from hell.

The captain clutched his bleeding arm, his face as pale as paper, the greed in his eyes replaced entirely by bone-deep terror and disbelief.

He stared fixedly at Su Zhe, his voice dry and hoarse: "You... what kind of monster are you?!"

Su Zhe watched the captain calmly, sensing that the man still had some trump card he hadn't played yet.

He activated Thermal Vision, confirming no one else was hiding nearby, yet he remained unsure of what the captain's backup plan was; this ability, gained after consuming certain serpentine monsters, was truly of limited use.

"Xiao Hua! Do it!"

Following a thunderous roar, the captain erupted into motion, breaking free from the shackles of gravity to stand suspended in mid-air!

"Hum--!"

An invisible, powerful wave of psychic energy exploded outward!

This was a basic application of Psychic Power. Su Zhe's willpower was not weak—or rather, having merged with the Blacklight Virus, his willpower was naturally formidable.

If his willpower were weak, the mere act of consuming other humans and experiencing their disparate memories and emotions would have likely caused a mental collapse.

The captain had not expected this move to be useless against Su Zhe, but he used the opportunity to put some distance between them; having seen the fate of the shield-wielding brute, he dared not engage Su Zhe in close quarters, and looking at the wings on Su Zhe's back... there seemed to be no chance of escape either.

The moment the captain erupted, Xiao Hua, lying prone in the distance, pulled the trigger.

Three bullets streaked toward Su Zhe's head, heart, and spine, their angles treacherous and their timing ruthless!

Simultaneously, a fierce glint flashed in the captain's eyes; ignoring the injury to his arm, he swung his blade directly at Su Zhe.

"Nine-Layered Thunder Blade! First Layer!"

As he swung, the two throwing knives hanging at the captain's waist locked onto Su Zhe's brain and heart under the control of his psychic power, coordinating with his Mental Shock to form a four-fold assault that descended upon Su Zhe all at once!

This was the captain's ultimate trump card, and the greatest reliance that had allowed him to survive in the Wilderness Zone until now!

The second-in-command of the squad had never been the seemingly powerful, Intermediate Warrior-level shield-bearer, but rather Xiao Hua, who worked in perfect tandem with the captain!
