Background / History
The Blacklight Virus is acquired by Su Zhe as his first random Devour System reward. Its core trait is continuous evolution through consuming other lifeforms: the host gains Devour Points, energy, advantageous genes, and potentially abilities from consumed targets 1 2.
Su Zhe is not merely infected by the virus; his human form is a mimicry created by a mass of virus. This physiology leaves him without ordinary human fatal weaknesses and allows rapid recovery so long as flesh and blood are available 2 11.
Initially, Su Zhe restrains the virus to prevent an uncontrolled outbreak. He estimates that only one in ten thousand humans could endure infection, while failure would create mindless infected; he also believes an unrestricted spread could become more catastrophic than the Great Nirvana 5 10. His first attempt to create a controllable variant, using Xiao Hua, fails when the subject’s body cannot complete its mutation 10.
After Su Zhe reaches the Planetary Level, his control improves enough to create viable infected subjects. Atkin becomes the first successful subject, retaining his intelligence while becoming obedient to Su Zhe; Atala later becomes the second 22 23 62. The virus subsequently develops beyond individual infection after Su Zhe devours the Zerg Queen Irina and gains incubation capability 102.
Appearance
The Blacklight Virus most often manifests as living black-red biomass, capable of changing between fine threads, filaments, veins, and tentacles 3 5 146.
- Black-red filaments can anchor a host to surfaces or burrow into flesh 3 5.
- Infection can be delivered as an almost undetectable blood-red thread 23.
- During high-intensity devouring or transformation, it forms masses of black-red tentacles 5 146.
- Blacklight-derived creations may display black-red blood vessels within other biological structures 105.
Abilities & Skills
Devouring and Assimilation
The virus consumes flesh, blood, and life essence to restore energy, heal damage, increase strength, and acquire useful biological traits 2 6 8.
- Consumption replenishes stamina directly, making conventional exhaustion largely irrelevant to a prototype 2.
- Severe physical injuries can be rapidly repaired when sufficient flesh and blood are available 2.
- It can acquire forms and traits from consumed lifeforms, including the Silver Moon Dire Wolf’s claws and the Black-Crowned Golden Eagle’s wings 2 6.
- Su Zhe’s personal version can replicate genes, memories, and certain abilities from targets 9 102.
- The full ability to plunder Secret Technique insights, law insights, and bloodline power belongs uniquely to Su Zhe rather than ordinary prototypes 110.
Camouflage and Mimicry
The virus allows its host to imitate other lifeforms and conceal their presence 5 58.
- Su Zhe can suppress his aura and blend with the scent of a target species 5.
- A Blacklight-derived clone can mimic the appearance, aura, and genetic material of lifeforms it has devoured 58.
- Camouflage combined with devoured memories enables more convincing impersonation 58.
- The Dark Gold Hunter variant can imitate an enemy’s appearance and aura, but cannot obtain that enemy’s memories 105.
Infection and Control
The virus is highly infectious, but its spread and mutations are completely governed by Su Zhe 10 18.
- It can infect through direct contact, airborne spread, water sources, and subtle implanted threads 5 23.
- Early infection damages the host’s brain and weakens the body; survival depends on whether the host can complete the mutation 18 23.
- Failed subjects may become mindless infected, while stronger candidates can develop toward Hunter-type organisms 10 23.
- Su Zhe can slow the infection process to improve a subject’s survival odds and preserve intelligence 23.
- Successful infected subjects can retain intelligence while becoming obedient to Su Zhe 23 62.
- At the World Master stage, the virus can survive in vacuum and infect targets through Force Battle Suits 102.
Genetic Optimization
Through repeated consumption, the virus continuously rearranges and optimizes its host’s genes 8 32.
- Its host’s genes can be enhanced by assimilating traits from multiple species 8.
- This optimization produces unusually efficient energy use and exceptional evolutionary potential 32.
- The virus can improve its host’s life gene level rather than being limited to fixed monster traits 8.
- Its anomalous devouring talent cannot be copied by the vast consciousness that successfully replicates Luo Feng’s Blacklight Clone 58.
Biological Forms
The virus can restructure biomass into combat forms derived from consumed creatures 2 6.
- Claw Form — Forms Silver Moon Dire Wolf claws for close-quarters combat 2.
- Wing Speed Form — Produces massive wings based on the Black-Crowned Golden Eagle, enabling high-speed flight 6.
- Scale Armor Form — A defensive form acquired after devouring the Shadow Dragon 18.
- Forms may be enhanced through telekinetic control, allowing finer manipulation of wing feathers and greater flight power 11.
Blacklight Hive and Incubation
After incorporating the Zerg Queen’s bloodline, the Blacklight Virus gains the ability to create hives and engineer new Blacklight Zerg 102 104.
- The Blacklight Hive requires flesh-and-blood energy rather than the rare materials or corpses used by conventional Zerg Hives 104.
- It can breed Blacklight Zerg and intelligent Hunters 104.
- Su Zhe cannot directly reproduce standard Zerg warriors because he lacks their complete genetic database 103.
- He can instead edit genetic templates and combine Zerg, Golden Horned Beast, plant, metal-lifeform, and Blacklight Virus traits into new organisms 103 113.
Known Infected and Derivatives
- Xiao Hua — First experimental subject. His mutation fails, though his partial transformation suggests the virus can push hosts toward Hunter-type lifeforms 10.
- Atkin — First successful intelligent infected subject; retains awareness and becomes obedient to Su Zhe 23 24.
- Atala — Second infected subject. He gains devouring-based growth, later reaches World Master level, and is eventually made a Blacklight Virus Matriarch 62 108 109.
- Su Yongyi — Safely transformed into a prototype; gains Devouring, Camouflage, and Parasitism 110.
- Lionbreaker Marquis — Converted into an incomplete prototype through a Nihility Devouring Flame sub-flame; gains Devouring but not Camouflage 146.
- Luo Feng’s Blacklight Clone — A replicable derivative possessing Devour, Camouflage, and Parasitism, but not all of Su Zhe’s abilities 58.
- Dark Gold Hunter — First major Blacklight Zerg type, combining Hunter Mantis Zerg, Tiger Armor Zerg, Blade Shadow Zerg, Golden Horned Beast, and Blacklight Virus traits 103 105.
