Wesker finally ceased his curiosity, immediately slamming the alarm button. The entire base erupted in blaring sirens, entering a state of Level 1 alert, and all doors leading to other exits were sealed shut.
But they surely kept a secret back door for themselves.
"Stop your damn screaming! If you want to live, stay close to me!"
Wesker barked at the shareholders, who were weeping in terror, preparing to lead them in a breakout.
He would rather fight his way through the horde of zombies in the outer corridor than face that man behind the one-way mirror. Besides, once the alarm was triggered, Umbrella security forces would arrive to reinforce the area.
Wesker reached the door, listening to the roars and the thudding of mutated zombies against the metal. He raised his foot and kicked with all his might, actually knocking the heavy security door off its hinges. It collapsed into the corridor, crushing a swathe of zombies beneath it.
He immediately charged out, standing on the fallen door panel, dual-wielding large-caliber revolvers to beat back the zombies lunging from both sides. When his magazines ran dry, he used his fists and feet, carving out a path of clearance.
"What are you standing there for! Get out here, now!"
Wesker roared at the shareholders who were frozen in fear.
They snapped out of their stupor, scrambling over one another to rush out of the Safe House and into the corridor.
Once the shareholders were all out, Wesker began escorting them toward the security door at the end of the hall.
Just as they moved away from the breached Safe House, Wesker heard the sound of glass shattering and hitting the floor from within.
He knew then that the man had entered.
After smashing the one-way mirror, Xia Tianming jumped into the Safe House and saw two corpses on the floor, their limbs and heads obliterated.
That familiar sensation of "kin" emanated from them, which was how he had pinpointed this highly concealed location.
So, these people had also been infected by the Blacklight Virus?
It was just that they weren't as fortunate as he was; their genes hadn't perfectly matched the Blacklight Virus, turning them into the dime-a-dozen common zombies found in games.
However, even the common zombies from Prototype were far stronger than the standard infected in the Resident Evil world, whether in movement speed or agility, and they could even keep moving after being shot in the head.
Because it was the Blacklight Virus driving these husks, having a head or not made little difference!
He recalled that when the Blacklight Virus evolved to its later stages and triggered the potential of the Wolf Pack strain, it seemed capable of controlling all Blacklight-infected entities, forcing them to obey commands. For now, he could only sense their existence.
After Xia Tianming entered the Safe House, the Blacklight zombies in the corridor noticed him, charging over with claws and fangs, failing entirely to recognize him as the viral progenitor.
But Xia Tianming's attention was not on these minions; his keen senses picked up the frantic, chaotic sound of footsteps in the outer corridor.
He guessed it was those Umbrella executives who had been watching him like monkeys in a cage, now fleeing for their lives.
Only by consuming them could he obtain the vital memories and information he required.
He immediately rushed out of the Safe House, preparing to hunt them down.
As for the Blacklight zombies blocking his path, he easily dispatched and consumed them in passing. Consuming each one actually provided him with 10 points of viral energy—ten times that of a normal zombie!
If he could convert the T-Virus zombies into Blacklight zombies after taking control of this world, he could start a rapid leveling spree.
He needed 10,000 points of Blacklight energy to break through the critical threshold for his next evolution, but the ways to acquire energy were increasing.
Just like the Tyrant he had consumed earlier, which provided 1,600 points of viral energy directly; if he could find more BOSS-level monsters like that, he could likely unlock the vast majority of his viral abilities in this world.
Xia Tianming left the Safe House and entered the corridor, seeing the fleeing group at the far end.
At that moment, Wesker turned his head, locking eyes with Xia Tianming.
From that classic attire, Xia Tianming immediately recognized him as the head of security who had brought him here—Wesker, a classic character from the games and movies.
He wondered if he would taste even better?
Without a word, Xia Tianming pushed off with his legs, charging toward them while grabbing a zombie in passing.
The zombie was dragged along like a tattered plastic bag fluttering in the wind.
Seeing the man charging toward them, Wesker gritted his teeth and roared at the panting shareholders: "Can you fat pigs run any faster?! In this post-apocalyptic world where resources are scarce, you're the only ones as fat as hogs!"
Facing the insults, the arrogant shareholders dared not utter a word of complaint; their lives were at stake.
While herding the shareholders like ducks, Wesker reloaded his weapon and aimed at the incoming enemy, firing continuously!
Xia Tianming's hawk-like vision tracked the trajectory of the gun barrel, allowing him to make micro-adjustments to his movement. He dodged every single bullet without even slowing down!
To an outsider, he was dodging bullets—a feat that already bordered on the supernatural.
Wesker emptied two magazines without a single hit, his shock profound. Had that man's reaction speed evolved again?!
He had no choice but to drop his pistols and shove the shareholders forward, running at full tilt. If they could just reach the security door twenty meters ahead, he could trap that thing in this equally sturdy metal corridor!
Fifteen meters.
Ten meters.
Five meters.
They were almost inside; that thing would never catch them now!
Wesker gripped the remote for the security door, ready to slam the heavy valve shut the moment everyone was inside.
Seeing them about to slip through his fingers, Xia Tianming, who had been prepared, concentrated his viral energy into his right arm, causing its strength to surge!
Then, he hurled the unfortunate zombie he had been dragging along like a high-velocity artillery shell, throwing it with all his might at the group ahead!
Whoosh!
The Zombie, hurled out like a cannonball at subsonic speeds, struck the group of shareholders just as they reached the safety door, bowling them over in a massive heap!
The shareholder hit directly was reduced to a spray of gore, killed instantly on the spot!
Before the fallen shareholders could even let out a wail, the Zombie thrown into their midst began to shriek, lunging at anyone within reach to tear into them; the scene descended into total chaos!
This entire sequence took less than two seconds, transforming their hope of survival into absolute despair!
Seeing that the situation had spiraled out of control, Wesker stopped caring about the wailing, injured shareholders and slipped behind the safety door, pressing the remote control.
He could not let that guy pass through this final door!
Yet, just as the safety door began to descend, several shareholders driven by a desperate will to live crawled beneath it, crying out for Wesker to save them.
And that man... he was only five seconds away from charging through.
