"Thump, thump!"
"Thump, thump!"
Lu Zhiyu could hear his own heartbeat. His consciousness began to spread, seeping into every part of his body. He could feel the blood inside him surging like a roaring flood. What had once been a vague sensation gradually became clearer and clearer until, at last, a marvelous image appeared before his eyes.
There were no colors in this image, no hues at all—only structure. It was like an exquisite 3D model, or a CAD blueprint. Skin, muscles, bones, blood vessels, internal organs—everything was displayed from the inside out, assembled from countless tiny structures.
Lu Zhiyu could even sense details such as the thickness of his skin, the length of his bones, and the size of his organs. However, his mental power was not strong enough yet, so he could not refine his perception down to the cellular level. Still, he could already vaguely sense it.
Lu Zhiyu could also see a large shadow in his lungs. Those were cancer cells, distinct from normal cells. They were continuously multiplying and already showed signs of forming a tumor.
"It worked!"
The moment Lu Zhiyu got excited, he immediately felt himself withdraw from that godlike perspective. He could no longer maintain a stable meditative and mental state. He hurried over to his desk, which was piled with books on medicine and anatomy, as well as several books about cancer.
Lu Zhiyu had long prepared for this experiment and had read quite a few of those books. Ever since awakening his mental power, he felt as though his brain had become sharper and his learning ability had improved. In the past, he had needed to read a book several times carefully and still might not understand it. Now, one glance was enough for him to remember it, along with a basic understanding.
Cancer could be said to be the cells' rebellion against a body that had remained in a subhealthy state for too long. It was not really a disease. Lu Zhiyu had once been somewhat despairing over this terminal illness, but now that he understood it, he realized it was not as terrifying as he had imagined.
Since cancer cells were not a disease, the body's immune system would not kill them. A person developed cancer not because they caught a disease called cancer, but because their body had begun to collapse from within and their health had deteriorated. Some cells rebelled against the body. If this continued, the "rebels" would keep growing until they formed tumors and gradually spread.
Therefore, simply killing cancer cells only treated the symptoms, not the root cause. If the body's underlying problems were not resolved, cancer would still arise again later. But once the body and mindset improved, cancer could be brought under control. There were already quite a few cases of cancer healing on its own.
Lu Zhiyu decided to adjust his physical condition, then spur his body to begin killing those cancer cells and gradually cure his lung cancer. Based on the methods he currently possessed, this approach was feasible.
Over the following days, Lu Zhiyu devoured large quantities of medical books every day. He even managed to get a course schedule from Jiangcheng University School of Medicine, choosing classes he wanted to learn about and attending them unofficially. During his free time, he went on dates with Cai Jiajia.
After laying out a series of plans, Lu Zhiyu finally began his body treatment plan.
Glands were special tissues within the human body that produced hormones. The body's eight major glands governed growth, development, metabolism, sexual characteristics, and a whole range of other functions. It could be said that as long as one controlled the glands, one could freely control one's entire body—height, weight, physique, strength, endurance, sexual ability, intelligence, and more!
Lu Zhiyu planned to stimulate the glands in his body, using hormones to control his development and health. He would adjust the body that had remained subhealthy due to work and his environment into one comparable to a professional athlete's, then regulate and treat the problems in his lungs, driving out the cancer cells.
Lu Zhiyu first used mental control to stimulate and regulate his pituitary gland's secretion of growth hormone, triggering a second round of development. He then stimulated the proper secretion of hormones from his adrenal glands, pancreas, and thyroid, adjusting his physical condition to its most perfect state. Naturally, Lu Zhiyu did not neglect to stimulate further development of his gonads either, carrying out his experiments one by one according to his list.
After withdrawing from his internal vision, Lu Zhiyu recorded the data and changes. Although he had previously been able to see the changes within his body clearly, he could not sense anything at this moment, as though nothing had happened.
Over the next stretch of days, Lu Zhiyu began to feel the tremendous changes in his body. First came soreness and pain throughout his body. This was the result of his body developing again and his skeleton growing once more. His frequent coughing whenever the weather turned cold at night also improved greatly. Despite barely exercising, the contours of his muscles even began to emerge.
Through his research, Lu Zhiyu learned that each gland controlled a particular aspect of the body. He targeted specific changes through stimulation and gradually adjusted his physical condition. However, he estimated that these changes would continue for quite some time. After all, haste made waste. If he stimulated everything at once, his body would not be able to endure it.
At first, Lu Zhiyu felt numb all over even when walking. His entire body was sore and painful, and the itch seemed to reach into his bones. For several days, he lay sprawled across his bed and sofa, unwilling to move at all. His appetite also became enormous. Later, he gradually adjusted the degree to which he stimulated his glands to secrete hormones, and those symptoms slowly eased.
During this process, Lu Zhiyu discovered that in just over half a month, his height had shot up from 1.75 meters to 1.83 meters. His skin, which had once been somewhat flawed, had become as fair and smooth as a baby's. His muscles had become more streamlined. During this time, Lu Zhiyu felt that although he clearly had not moved much each day, it was as though he had constantly been exercising, with his body stimulating his muscles to grow steadily in a healthier direction.
Most importantly, Lu Zhiyu discovered that the shadow inside his body had begun to fade. Large numbers of cancer cells in his lungs were dying on their own and being expelled through his body's excretory system. Even his occasional coughing had completely vanished.
Standing before the mirror in nothing but shorts, Lu Zhiyu suddenly felt as though he could no longer recognize himself. In the mirror stood a tall, handsome man, his body shaped with lines of golden proportions, his muscles sharply defined. His face had become softer yet more sculpted, while his eyes had grown livelier and more vibrant. He was even more handsome than the celebrities on television or the male models he had seen before—yes, even the kind that had been edited in photos.
Having not looked in a mirror for a long time, Lu Zhiyu finally realized just how drastic his changes had been. No wonder Cai Jiajia had kept saying he had changed so much when he attended her class yesterday.
"Is this really me?" Lu Zhiyu stood before the mirror, his mouth hanging open.
