Background
Early life and Rowling Magic Academy
Vivian was once a little match girl who awakened her Candlelight Phantom magic while freezing in the snow and imagining better futures for herself. Shen Sui, known to her on the Dawn Continent as Claude Modena, rescued her on a snowy night and funded her studies at Rowling Magic Academy. 157 187
At the academy, Vivian began learning magic-item production. Her surviving notes show both her talent and her early idealism: in Silver Moon Calendar Year 913, she collected the souls of mistreated Magical Beasts, sheltered them in the academy, and asked any future finder to free them once their resentment had faded. 187 189
Twilight of the Gods and Claude's disappearance
Vivian and Claude brought about the end of the gods' rule, but the Dawn Continent did not stabilize afterward. When Claude disappeared on March 14, 922 of the Silver Moon Calendar, Vivian initially waited and searched the locations he frequented; after fifteen days, she began a continent-wide search. 78
During that search, she confronted former allies who sought to replace the old gods. Her diary records that she killed Jahad and sealed Fremeia rather than kill her, fearing that Claude would be saddened by Fremeia's death. 78
Vivian abandoned her leadership of the Twilight Society to find a way to summon Claude from another world. Accompanied by Kishara and assisted by Andory, she attempted to use a ritual Claude had left behind; the ritual failed and severely injured Andory. 77
Feigned death and travels beyond the Dawn Continent
Baris later summoned Vivian back to Modena City and argued that ending the gods' rule was not enough; the Twilight era itself had to end for a genuine new dawn to begin. Trusting Baris and unwilling to become an eternal ruler, Vivian agreed to let herself be publicly “burned to death” to close the Twilight era. 431
Afterward, she left the Dawn Continent through a World Barrier opened by Antipus. Vivian learned to make items capable of crossing World Barriers and spent roughly a thousand years moving between worlds. 166
In her early travels, Vivian acted as an overwhelmingly powerful savior, removing threats from worlds and leaving without asking for anything in return. She eventually concluded that this approach was unsustainable: after she departed, many worlds simply repeated their former cycles of violence and exploitation. 526
Appearance
Vivian is a red-haired woman with crimson eyes. In her true-body appearance after returning to Shen Sui, she commonly wears her fiery hair in a long ponytail and favors simple dresses over ornate clothing. 192 429
- Fiery red long hair, described as resembling blazing flames. 192
- Crimson eyes in her restored true-body appearance. 429
- Her Soul Card artwork depicts her wielding the Holy Authority Staff while declaring war on the gods. 471
- Can use Candlelight Phantom identities with entirely different appearances, such as the black-haired An Wei. 264 368
- Can transform herself into a Dragon Girl; the transformation is treated as a genuine racial change rather than an illusion. 472
Personality
Vivian is playful, provocative, and intensely competitive. She enjoys card gambling, taunting opponents, and deliberately acting within the personalities of her Candlelight Phantom identities. Her An Wei persona is specifically framed as a mischievous “little witch,” but Shen Sui considers the persona’s youthful, lively temperament consistent with Vivian herself. 264 278 368 431
Her affection for Shen Sui drives much of her history. Claude's disappearance left her restless enough to abandon the Twilight Society's leadership and search across worlds for him. After their reunion, she chooses not to eliminate Shen Sui's other companions because she knows doing so would hurt him, though she remains possessive and easily jealous. 77 263 428
Vivian retains a strong protective ideal. She rejects permanent rule despite her overwhelming strength, sees powerful people as having a duty to protect the weak, and continues personally testing defenses for the Buffer Zone. 431 526 641
She can also be merciless toward those she judges cruel or dangerous. During the Advent Society's Life and Death Game, she psychologically tormented opponents, took their cards, and allowed Kaines to duel only so that he could die in despair. 483 489
Abilities & Skills
Twilight Power
Vivian wields Twilight Power, one of the Dawn Continent's Four Source Powers. It is regarded as a “BUG-level” power whose applications include phantoms, projections, body control, and cross-world interference. 474 484
- Her power was recognizable enough to terrify the Lord of Thunder, who retreated after encountering Vivian's projection in Rowling City. 192 474
- She can leave Twilight marks on others; one such mark left on Alice eventually helped draw Shen Sui to the Dawn Continent. 257 265
- She formally transferred the authority and identity of Twilight to Alice through the young Vivian phantom. 485
Candlelight Phantom
Candlelight Phantom is Vivian's innate magic. By lighting a match, she can create a doppelganger that follows a life trajectory she establishes; the world fills in the missing history, records, and memories needed to make that identity appear genuine. 157
- A phantom can be an entirely fabricated person with memories and social connections recognized by everyone around them. 157
- The world can rationalize a phantom's identity with compatible possessions, history, and even a Soul Card deck; An Wei's identity consequently received a Beast Taming Deck. 264
- Phantoms may operate automatically according to a preset personality or be manually controlled by Vivian. 278
- Vivian can send projections through her enchanted items, as when a projection protected Alice from the Lord of Thunder. 192
- The true body can descend onto a phantom, allowing Vivian to interact through that identity. 264
- A phantom's setting must remain reasonable and conform to the world's rules; behavior too contradictory to its premise makes the identity difficult to maintain. 266 397
- Highly complex identities require vastly more fabricated information and can overwhelm the creator's soul. 397
- Conventional detection cannot reliably distinguish a phantom from Vivian's true body; Shen Sui's Love Contract mark is an exceptional means of confirmation. 157
Candlelight Control
Vivian can use Twilight candlelight to seize control of people much weaker than herself. The target remains conscious but loses control of their body. 484 489
- She historically controlled high-ranking Church members to gather intelligence and turn them against the gods. 484
- She controlled Kaines long enough to force him to mimic her actions before releasing him for their final duel. 483 489
- This ability cannot be used freely on opponents close to Vivian's own strength. 484
Enchantment and Item Creation
Vivian is an exceptional enchanter and item-based mage. She can transfer her own power into objects she creates, allowing seemingly ordinary accessories to manifest abilities beyond their printed effects. 111 189
- Her crafting can produce items capable of crossing World Barriers. 166
- She can design complex magical systems rather than merely follow existing formulas; Shen Sui considers her imagination, experience, and artistic sense what separates her from an ordinary high-level alchemist. 429
- She engineered the enchantment plan for Alice's Floating Paulownia Wood battleship, enabling it to sail, fly, travel through space, shrink into a Storage Ring, and adapt to different Soul Card worlds. 429
- She assists Alice and young Vivian in developing standardized Magic Guided Armaments for mass use by ordinary people. 578
Combat Ability
Vivian possesses Fifteenth-Order strength and was considered effectively impossible to kill unless she chose death herself. 129 258
- In the Cultivation World, she fought Immortal Emperor Ye Zhou'er for seven days and seven nights, ending in a draw; cultivators there know her as the Heavenly Demon. 500
- Her projected image was sufficient to force the Lord of Thunder to withdraw immediately. 192
- She can change into a true Dragon Girl form through Candlelight Phantom power. 472
Soul Card and Dueling

| Soul Card | Twilight Saintess Vivian |
| Card Type | Follower Card |
| Star Rating | 15 Stars |
| Spirit Value | 6000 |
| Summoning condition | Cannot be Special Summoned or brought out by form transformation; requires Tributing five Multi-Form Followers to Normal Summon. Its Summon cannot be chained and it is unaffected by other card effects. 471 |
| Form support | Can discard a card to grant another Multi-Form Follower on either field an additional form transformation that turn. 471 |
| Imitation effect | Can reveal a Follower Card from her hand or Graveyard at the end of either player's turn and gain that card's effects until the end of the next turn. 471 |
| Match victory effect | If Vivian inflicts battle damage exceeding the opponent's current Life Points, Shen Sui wins the entire match rather than only the current duel. 471 |
Vivian's An Wei identity uses an aggressive Beast Taming Deck built around Spirit Fantasy Dragon, graveyard resources, and explosive hand-discard effects. Her strategy favors forcing a rapid kill before the opponent can stabilize. 264 370 371
- Beast Taming Disaster – Spirit Devouring Storm lowers both players' Soul Point limits to eight and prevents either side from exceeding that limit for a set duration. 369
- Spirit Fantasy Dragon Chaos Form can be pushed into a berserk state that becomes battle-immune, reflects battle damage, doubles its own damage, and prevents opposing effect activation during battle. 371
- She lost her first wagered duel against Shen Sui after he used Kishara to destroy Spirit Fantasy Dragon. 264 265
- She later faced Shen Sui again in the National Tournament Finals, pressing him to 600 Life Points before he dismantled her Chaos Body. 369 370 371

- Baris — Vivian's trusted friend and successor as leader of the Twilight Society. Baris convinced Vivian to feign her death, though her later actions and disappearance became a source of uncertainty. 77 431
- Andory — Wood Element Empress who remained with Vivian after Claude disappeared and volunteered as the medium for Vivian's failed calling ritual. 77
- Fremeia — Former comrade whom Vivian sealed rather than kill during her search for Claude. They later resume a close, teasing friendship. 78 428
- Kishara — Vivian's close companion during the search for Claude and a devoted attendant who recognizes Vivian as her mistress. 77 157 428
- An Hai — Her “brother” under the An Wei Candlelight Phantom identity. Though the relationship began as fabricated history, Vivian's own memories and emotions make her concern for him genuine. 369 597 601
Story Role
Return and the New Twilight
Vivian's Candlelight Phantom, An Wei, reunited her with Shen Sui and revealed that Vivian had orchestrated Soul Card duels to draw him to her. 262 263
After returning in her true body, Vivian rested from the burden of managing the consequences of the Twilight era and delegated more of that work to Shen Sui. 428
When Alice began openly wielding Twilight Power, Vivian accepted that the Twilight cause did not need to be completed by Vivian alone. She empowered Alice as the New Twilight Saintess while remaining available to intervene when needed. 474 485
Buffer Zone and external threats
Vivian joined Shen Sui's plan to create instance worlds as a buffer between reality and other Soul Card worlds. She organized tests, recruited volunteers, designed possible failure scenarios, and personally analyzed the resulting data. 526 546 557
She also investigates Severed Realm creatures and Harald by tracing residual Twilight power and causal links through her phantoms. This nearly exposed her consciousness to Harald's counterattack, forcing her to redirect herself through other phantoms. 572 573
