Choosing your own Pokemon was a crucial decision. However, as Coulson looked at the virtual screen in front of him, all he could tell was that the Pokemon were pretty cute. Beyond that, he was completely clueless.
When Pokemon had been all the rage a while back, Coulson had seen a video online of Pikachu beating up Justin Hammer's security guards, but that was about it.
After that, S.H.I.E.L.D. had been so busy they hadn't had time to build comprehensive files on these newly released robotic products. So Coulson could only ask his two smartest subordinates for advice.
Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons had both been among the best graduates of their class at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, and no one could question their intelligence. Since this involved machinery, Coulson asked Fitz, "What do you think?"
Fitz blinked. "They're pretty cute."
Coulson nearly choked on his own saliva. "I'm not asking what you think of their looks. I'm asking which one we should choose!"
Fitz hurriedly replied, "Oh, I've done some research on robotic Pokemon. The most popular one on the market is Pikachu. It seems to be stronger than the others, and a lot of people have even developed special combat techniques for it..."
"So you're saying we should pick this yellow one... Is it a rabbit or a mouse?" Coulson asked.
"No, I mean we should avoid this one if possible," Fitz said.
"Why? Didn't you say it was stronger than the others?" Coulson asked, puzzled.
"Pikachu is the best-selling one, so it's also the most common. We're very likely to run into one owned by our opponents. Director Coulson, do you think we can beat experts who've trained theirs for a long time, when we've only got a short time to prepare?" Fitz explained.
"Then what do you suggest?"
